I saw Fab Faux performing the Abbey Rd Album at my first ever Beatleweek about 12 years ago, they were absolutely superb!!!

In my view they are the best Beatle band ever. Hopefully they will be doing the Convention as the Saturday show is for packages only.

Yeah I noticed that, there's a load of people bitching about it on Facebook, can see why they're upset!

Totally understand the reasoning but I can't see how cancelling Beatle Week during the 1964 50 year celebrations would ever have been an option considered!

Why even think of cancelling the festival. And what's with the reference about the Philharmonic being 'the home' of Beatleweek? Surely if any one place fits that description it's the Adelphi. It's clear the focus on Beatleweek for the organisers is centred on the feature shows in the Philharmonic/Royal Court etc. I thought it was a bit odd to even mention the Echo arena as a possibility. I understand the feature type shows are where the big money is going to come from to fund the continuation of the festival but for those of us who have been going for a long time and tend to frequent the Adelphi and Mathew street rather than the full on organised events the statement does come across inconceivable.

And to be honest I rarely go to the theatre shows as I find them soulless - or maybe that's just because I have a total aversion to sitting down to watch Rock and Roll!!

LOL! Yeah at midday on the Saturday, when we traditionally have the Forum meet-up, there is The Songs That The Beatles Gave Away at Alma De Cuba - I wouldn't want to miss that really! It's £15 a ticket though. So if that's a bit too expensive, maybe we could all meet up on convention day in the Adelphi pub on the Sunday instead - we could then move to any of the other rooms to see a whole myriad of tribute bands!! Haha!! Sad being ordinary isn't it! :-P Man City did us a favour today but could have done without Chelsea winning! It's gonna be an exciting finish this season!

There's not much on the Friday for non-package holders (well nothing at all actually) so it looks like Mathew street for me then. Are you going to the Town Hall event on the Friday Al? Given you are a privileged package holder! Alma Da Cuba sounds like a good shout on the Saturday though. I usually pay £15 to get in there on the Friday anyway so it doesn't really make that much difference.

I'll be travelling up on the Thursday but yeah I was intending to drop into the town tall thing on he Friday. I do love the Alma de Cuba gigs - for me they're always one of the highlights of the week! :-D What do you reckon to the idea of having the forum meet up in the Adelphi pub on the Sunday instead?

It's an option. I am just not sure it's the right venue for such an occasion. The beauty about the Grapes is that it's just a pub with nothing else going on but people talking. Whereas the Adelphi has too many distractions with too many many people suffering from an all-nighter the night before! Everyone is tied to different bands/events on convention day.
We should throw out a few options to vote on. How about Friday afternoon sometime? Is pre or post Alma Da Cuba an option? Bank Holiday Monday?

I like our meet up in The Grapes , but I do think we need a bigger venue as this could be the biggest meet ever ! What if your not there Friday or Monday ?

Just throwing the potential options out there. I just think the forum meet up would work better away from a thriving hub of Beatles activity where everyone has a must see list of bands. Let's chew it over. We have seven months to decide!

I know what you mean about having the opportunity for a decent chat - that's why I thought the Adelphi pub (is it still called Friday's?) would be ideal as there's not usually anything going on in there on convention day (i.e. the Sunday) and it's most definitely the hub on the Sunday. After a couple of hours in the Grapes we always tend to slope off to either the Cavern pub or club (or wherever) anyway and get split up as people leave at different times, so thought perhaps this year we might be able to stick together for longer - then maybe pick out an itinerary of bands for us all to see at the various venues in the Adelphi? There would also be a lot more choice there than the Cavern plus it wouldn't require a complete change of clothes afterwards! LOL! That sort of combines everyone's suggestions I think, doesn't it? Also, I've looked at the start times for Alma de Cuba on the Saturday and I think that by the time everyone got there from the Grapes we'd have missed a fairly hefty chunk of the bands. Every night is pretty much an all-nighter though as all the bands finish at about 5am every single night - hence the regular 6am strolls to Bazooka Chicken - and why I always look a complete wreck on the Saturday - so it would really make no odds what day we have the Forum meet-up as I'm still gonna be totally f-ked whatever day we have it! LOL! Every year though I'm gutted that I haven't had the opportunity to have a proper catch up with everyone, so I'd really love to be able to spend more time with everyone this time... except arthurlee (just kidding of course Mr Lee! Get out of that!! )! But as you said Si, it's early days!
