You mean your list? Yes there are quite a few songs, but I'm unfortunately not tempted to here them. I'm surprised that you put Hocus Pocus in there. It's a great song that many forget.

Metallica - Master Of Puppets 1. Slayer - Raining Blood
NOTE: This list was harder to do than I thought, so I narrowed it down to one song per artist. That actually made it harder, so I eventually just put random songs in random places. So that it wouldn't get to out of it, I gave Megadeth and Metallica an extra song.
What did you think?

It`s good how you almost did the list with one per band ! Very tricky indeed . But yes , as I imagined you would be into more of the newer Metal band s For me the new metal bands were Iron Maiden and Saxon etc NWOBHM as they called it . AC/DC and Zep are bands that I would never class as Metal or even done a Metal tune As for The Beatles ! It would be also interesting which track appears the most of the lists on here .

Well, you consider Iron Maiden and Saxon 'newer', and I consider them 'oldies'.

I'm surprised that you put Hocus Pocus in there. It's a great song that many forget. I totally forgot about that one too! I have that LP and the single edit on a K-tel comp. from '73. It's interesting what's considered old and new. 15 (FIFTEEN) years ago I told some 17 - 20 year old that I liked Nirvana and he said, "oh you like that old stuff,,,,," What do I say to that? It would be interesting to, now, categorize the songs into sub-genres and see what the most popular sub-genre is. I'm pretty certain that Mine aren't! ITunes conveniently categorized all mine for me so I'll add that in. I forgot about Van Halen and would have included something like 'Unchained', 'Tora,Tora/Loss Of Control' or 'It's About Time' by Van Hagar. Also, 66 songs, nearly one artist each, is a bloody lot of heavy metal. I need to take a short break and listen to some hawaiian favorites for a while. Then a bit of heavy bluegrass.

Well, you consider Iron Maiden and Saxon 'newer', and I consider them 'oldies'. Ya, really Metal took off in the 80's, so I consider them old. Black Sabbath would be the fore fathers of metal to me.

I think metal was already established in the '70's. What happened in the '80's was it took off in a dozen different directions. And part of it was the influence of punk, Van Halen and Motorhead to play it faster. When Sabbath turned crappy near the end of the '70's, it was a bad move to take the still unknown Van Halen out on the road with them. Everybody started going home after the VH performance. This was the future......

Re Van Halen . I was at the tender age of 16 when I went round to my mates house and he put on Van Halen - Van Halen on Yep was very impressed . Went to see them live on their first world tour (?) Not impressed . Though I was young but not gullible We had the "Your the best audience we`ve ever had" after two songs OK , maybe Dave Lee is a bit excited "This is going to be our new live album " Erm yeh "New Concert film " You get the idea of how this was going and people were ... Leaving The Music was a bit naff I`m not one for knocking Gigs , I mostly like them all , average or not so But this put me off Van Halen and the " New Metal invasion Around that time I went to see a new up and coming band called Iron Maiden Most of my mates heard one song and headed for the bar . Me I did about 4 songs , got a bit lonely as the Gig went on , went to the bar Still have the ticket .
