Interesting.I have always wondered if Epstein had lived what would have happened.

John always said he wished he was the one that said the Beatles are breaking up before Paul did. After all the Beatles were his group so he should have been the one to say they are done.
I always thought it was a series of issues that brought about the Beatle breakup and not just one issue. Epstein dying and no mgr to keep them in line, Ringo leaving and coming back, John meeting Yoko, Paul & George arguing, Yoko being allowed in the recording sessions, Paul and the Klein issue. John & George wanting to play with other musicians. And finally it wasn't fun anymore being a Beatle.

Was it the done thing for musicians to work elsewhere during the lifetime of a band. I happenes a lot now and I think it help bands stay together. Epstein alive would have meant no Klein. Paul and George no idea why that dynamic broke down I always felt it was more damaged that Paul and John but I cannot be sure of that one. The John / Yoko issue is the most tricky to read but again if John could have worked away more maybe that might have not been so problematic. I think the Let it Be doc is going to be enlightening.

I think the Paul/George friendship was more damaged. Apparently Paul always used his being older than George as a way in his mind to keep the upper hand. Up until George's death Paul was STILL 8 months older than George. That's why George was ready to leave The Beatles by Sgt Pepper.
