My Top Ten is always changing. After all I have about 200 songs to choose from. But right now this song isn't No. 1, but it's always way up there...

That is a greeat song Rocky. I am going through a Paperback Writer spell at the moment, I love the I love the guitar lick just after they sing Paperback Writer Writer Writer and bang it hits. Rain is a masterpiece and I still love She Loves You. All youthful rebellion and Things We Said Today, not a lot going on but it is so full of feeling.

its Only Love is on hard rotation now I think I prefer the Anthology 2 version, but what a great song.
Is it Paul doing that guitar lick on Paperback Writer.

Is it Paul doing that guitar lick on Paperback Writer? According to the 'Recording Sessions' It was recorded on April 14th,1966, with Paul using for the first time his Rickenbacker bass and using a loud speaker as a mic. Engineer Ken Townsend got into a lot of trouble recording the song like this from the higher up Chief Technical Engineer, Bill Levy, because recording the bass sound like this would likely make the stylus jump while pressing the record. And pressing a million records they couldn't afford a mistake. But after all it was The Beatles and George Martin ok'ed it so it went ahead.
