The memories of those involved in events of forty or fifty years ago can be unreliable. Retelling of stories can add a mythic element, and embellishments added. As an example, watching the superb Some other guys documentary, Brian Griffiths told a tale of going with John to a Hamburg music store to buy the famous Rickenbacker. Griff tries out the guitar, and the Whammy bar comes off in his hand. The problem I have is that the Seniors [with Griff on guitar] had been replaced at the Kaiserkeller by RSATH on October 1st. John bought the Rickenbacker in November. However, perhaps Griff went with John just to view the Rick, before purchase? I'm sure some other examples of "total recall" will come to light.

That makes sense, Rocky. Griff seemed so convincing, that I'm sure his account is true.

I believe it was Giff that said one time, John didn't have a clue what he doing when it came to fixing a guitar. lol When John had his Ric restored in 1974 they had to send to Rickenbacker for diagrams because John had the wiring so messed up. lol
