... if he had not had cancer. Or if they had caught the cancer sooner.
What he would have done since then, we can only speculate.

This may have been the reason that last night on Sky Arts was the complete Concert For George, I've of course seen this before , it's a great concert. This time i only watched half as Match of the Day was worth watching as my team won ha ha , i go to bed depressed early if they lose. As much as The Indian music part of the programme was well played i just wanted to hear George songs. The Indian music part for my ears , to quote from Amadeus has "too many notes". One of my favourite parts of the show was Ringo introducing Photograph and saying that now the meaning of the song takes on a new meaning with George's passing.

It's also the reason Sirius/XM was playing mainly George songs all weekend on their Beatles Channel.

As the tv choices last night was poor last night it gave me a chance to catch up on my recording of Concert For George. I'd already watched a few days earlier the Indian music section(too many notes) so fast forwarded to Georges songs. It really is a wonderful concert , i liked nearly all the songs and performers. Clapton is quite a good guitarist ha ha Ringo and Paul were magnificent, Macca's voice was perfect. It was so nice to see Ringo on drums with Macca, gives you a little taste on how had the Beatles stayed together they could have had the most wonderful live shows. I still can't understand after a pause from touring and performing live they didn't get back on stage, they'd have kicked ass.

Why didn't they get back together?
1. No one saw fit to reach out and take the initiative to forgive and ask for forgiveness. 2. Perhaps the smouldering resentment was good inspiration for songwriting, which was profitable, especially after they had formed their own publishing companies. 3. Lennon moved to NYC, which may have made things a little inconvenient.
Just my theory. And it doesn't apply to Ringo, who appeared to get along with everybody.

Yes, i know they were fed up with the screaming fans that they couldn't hear themselves properly on stage and had tired of Beatlemania but that would have calmed down eventually. Of course they also said their studio albums they were then writing couldn't have been performed live, but technology moved on pretty quickly during that decade. As i've said before when they watched Woodstock and the Isle of Wight festival i can't believe it didn't cross any of their minds that they should have been topping the bill at these events and what a show that would have been. I know in the end they didn't get on anymore, but playing live is what keeps The Stones and The Who(now the two ha ha ) going You forget the differences when your on that stage for 2 to 3 hours , then they can go their own way afterwards. We know The Who were quite a combustible group and Keith Richard and Jagger don't really get on but they are still going strong with another tour coming up. Some of the biggest cheers at the concert for George was when they played Georges Beatles songs, to hear All Things Must Pass was quite emotional (should have been on Let It Be)

I would imagine he would have done the same things he did before he died, but oh man where does the time go. It's a shame I never got to personally meet him. I would have loved to talk to him about music and other topics, he seemed like a really cool dude.

Well, today George would have been 76. It's been a year since I started this thread.

I still cannot get my head around George being gone. I am genuinely shocked as the ages of the artists who I loved as a kid. Even John Lydon is 63.

HAPPY 76 GEORGE wherever you are!!! You would have thought George being the youngest Beatle would have lived the longest and here Ringo who was the oldest and sickly when he was a child will probably out live them all!!!

Rocky, you never know.
Back in the '70s on Saturday Night Live there was a bit where John Belushi is in the far-off future, going through a cemetery where the 6 other Not Ready For Prime Time Players are buried. He's looking at their grave markers.
Of course, Belushi was the first to die.

... if he had not had cancer. Or if they had caught the cancer sooner. What he would have done since then, we can only speculate. There seems to be so many types of cancers and you need a lot of luck to survive . When George died i thought, so even with all his money and contacts to get the best medical help no-one could save him. On a personal note about just over 7 years ago my brother discovered he not only had bowel cancel but it has spread to liver , after a couple of ops he was fine then it appeared on his lung. Just when you think you've beaten the cancer it pops up in another area. Finally a year ago , the Doctor gave him the all clear,(that was an emotional day) but note there is no such thing really as it just means your scans are 6 months rather than 3 months . Well he's had his 2nd scan just over a week ago and is still all clear, thanks to our NHS. I hope no-one minded me sharing this story .

So pleased he is in remission. Thanks. He never smokes drinks very moderately and eats properly and plays golf 3 times a week(he would play seven times a week but he's married ha ha ) . Being fit i'm sure helped him , at least with recover after his ops.
