Judging by the number of loser comments like 'The Beatles got nothing on The Animals' or the like, an insightful comment like yours will be ignored.......... I also dislike the reputation Beatles fans have of being mortally offended when someone disses the fabs. That's a bit embarrassing and a legit complaint.

I was a teenager when the Beatles hit (Geezer that I am). The Beatles were not overrated.
Now, if you thought that by touching the hem of their garment, you would be healed of whatever malady you were suffering through, then you were overrating them. Or if you were in an admiring throng, waving back at the Beatles on their balcony, and you were on crutches, and threw your crutches down thinking they would heal you, you would fall on your patooty. (That actually happened, according to Ringo.)
But musically and critically, they were NOT overrated.

Interesting video because I think they were overrated when they first came here. Everyone in the press were saying all this stuff about them that they were soooo fantastic without really knowing who they were just to sell their newspapers or magazines or whatever. But then when you had to compare them to whatever was around back then, they were really that good. I always think what if the Beatles were only an average garage band back then, what would have happened. Maybe two more albums and that would have been it? You may say they are overrated because every damn band that has come out since 1964 WANTS to be them, even if they say they don't care about them, it's still in the back of there minds, but then again you could say they are underrated for that same reason.
