What makes a Beatle fan?
Maybe this question is more relevant today than in the Sixties, as there were obviously more fans back then. Even when I was growing up (i.e. The Eighties), to be a Beatle fan was something quite out of the ordinary, which often made me a source of ridicule (until the Mod revival, when I was VERY popular!).
So, is there something that binds us all together - is there a single characteristic that makes a Beatle fan nowadays?
What do you reckon?

So many people listen to the Beatles nowadays, honestly. Many kids of today have parents whose parents listened to the Beatles, and they pass it down to their kids. So the band is kind of ubiquitous, really. I think the thing that makes a Beatles fan unique is all the crazy facts and dates they know. We really pay attention to details. Most people could tell you whether they like Rubber Soul or The White Album better, but only a true Beatles fan will argue with you on who sang the "aah aah aahs" on ADITL.

Admitting to be a Beatles fan was much tougher in the 70's. The pop/rock culture was evolving and trying to free itself from the more "conservative" old-fashioned 60's, still kicking on its heels. It was like" what are you still folowing the Beatles for, haven't you evolved yet?
But Lennon's death and the video explosion of the 80's had unearthed much material and a new undertanding of what the Beatles meant to our culture and society in general. The culture is more sophisticated now, and appreciative of what the Beatles meant.
