"Liverpool was made for me and I was made for Liverpool" Bill Shankly.
In 1959 Mr William Shankly walked into Liverpool Football Club and was greeted by a run down ground, where the wind rattled through the corrugated roof of all parts of the stadium.
By the time he resigned in 1974 he had brought three Division 1 titles, one Division 2 title, two FA Cups and a UEFA Cup to Anfield and had set the foundations for the decades of greatness to come.
This is a superb show, I was lucky enough to be at the sell-out show back in April at the Liverpool Olympia Theatre and now it's back for this run. I'm going again on October 9th.
Don't like LFC? Don't even like football? Don't understand football or soccer?
No matter, this is a fantastic piece of theatre (one man show) that will capivate and movate you. It's more about how one man can get the VERY BEST out of a team or out of an individual - throw it all together and make an unbeatable force. It's more about 'mind games' than the game itself.
It's one of many successful plays we've hosted in this very special year for my hometown - get along to The Cavern and then go around the corner to The Royal Court Theatre for the evening to watch this, you will love it.
This is not just a play, like Eric's it's a play with it's very roots in Liverpool, a play that helps to define the city - and not something that could just happen anywhere.
