So then .
How do you follow Band On The Run ?
I guess you don`t , but with two new members a young guitarist called Jimmy McCullough and a Drummer who was`nt going to make it through the next album Geoff Britton did`nt seemed to get on with the young wizard so he parted .
After recording 3 songs at Abbey Rd they left to finish the album in New Orleans .
Enter the second American drummer to join Wings (And last) Joe English .
Now going off my vague memory I do remember being very excited about this album and I loved it .
Yes , it was never going to another Band On The Run and at a young age you never really think about that kinda thing
And after all this was an album of my now very much favorite band.
The album came with Posters , stickers and lyrics and a gate fold , very impressive in my book .
Venus And Mars A fantastic little ditty to open up the album and also the title album
Setting up the next song very nice ...
Rock ShowA great rocker which as in the title it`s a Rock Show
We get to know that there are Axe`s behind stacks and it`s all sex drugs and Rock n Roll !!!
Love the "reprise piano boogie " where Macca seems to enjoy the banter of going to a show
Never had thought that three years later I would become a regular concert goer for the next 30 odd years .
This song really comes to it fore when played live , just check out the Rock Show film .
Love In Song I just bloody love this song .
If you have never listened to this extremely loud , you should it really is a powerful song .
You Gave Me The Answer Macca just could`nt really go without throwing in a Music hall song could he ?
A Honey Pie throwback and I guess maybe this could have been a B-Side but then again it is a short one
You can tell I`m not that keen on this one .
Magneto and Titanium ManMacca must have been reading a few Marvel comics and once again this song seems to work better live
Letting GoLove this one .
Jimmy McCullough seems to shine on this song
A brother to Let Me Roll It .
I just wish Macca had wrote more stuff like this than the safe pop songs that he seemed to do , you know like Silly Love Songs ?!
Venus And Mars ( Reprise ) Side two opens up with a fab Venus and Mars reprise that is wonderfully cosmic and goes straight into..
Spirits Of Ancient EgyptA nice little ditty that is sung by Denny Laine
Medicine JarA song from Jimmy McCullough which he written and sings
Great song about the "ups" and "downs" of putting your hand to unprescribed drugs , if only he listened to his own advice on this one.
Call Me Back AgainAnother one I bloody love .
Macca`s singing on this is magic .
Always sounded like a Georgie Fame tribute .
Jimmy sounds superb on this one also .
Listen What The Man SaidYep it`s a silly love song but it`s one I do love and I never tire of hearing it for some strange reason .
A top ten hit in the UK and everyone seemed to be singing it in the Summer of 75 .
Never knew that Traffics Dave Mason played guitar on this track . until recently !
Treat Her Gently / Lonely Old People I tend to think this little medley is always overlooked in Macca`s career I think it`s one that would fitted nicely on Ram
Wonderful stuff.
I love it (them)
CrossroadsStrange one this .
A cover of a Tony Hatch theme from a British soap opera that was on the telly in the 70`s
That`s basically it .
