At the time I really liked it . It was a Rocking track that was one of the not so many on Back To The Egg So it was a foot tapper for sure . Underrated . I`m on the fence with that one I remember Macca saying he wrote when he heard Linda twinkerling on the Keyboards

Are there any live performances of Old Siam Sir in existence? It would make a great live track.

No it`s not , there was only so many tracks they could stick on a double album then back in the day (but you knew that ) Who knows they may release an extended one on CD Or even better put the tracks on the Back To The Egg remaster !

Yeah, an extended Back To The Egg with live tracks from Kampuchea (properly mixed and mastered this time) would be brilliant. It's such a shame we didn't get more of the Juber/Holly line up.

I love Back To The Egg. Old Siam Sir is a great performance. Same with Spin It On. Paul's voice is still at it's peak and the lineup were spot on. Too bad for the Japan bust. It's almost like he deliberately sabotaged the group so ha had an excuse to dismiss everyone and go back to being Paul.

Yeah, an extended Back To The Egg would be brilliant. Man, I wish I could agree with you mm. A shortened Back To The Egg wouldn’t even do it for me! This is unfortunately the album that made me lose interest in Macca. Maybe it was because I was into Metal at this point, I don’t know.

Maybe it's time for a re-evaluation of Back To The Egg for you Bongo. If you haven't listened to it for a while could you have another listen? Come on man, take one for the team!!!

Easy Listening Bongo!!! There's probably some of the hardest tracks McCartney ever recorded on there!

"Old Siam, Sir" appears to be a rearrangement of letters in another expression, like "Slim radios." Or "Rams solid."

Easy Listening Bongo!!! There's probably some of the hardest tracks McCartney ever recorded on there! I agree there are a couple of tracks, (as I always mention, I like a few tracks from all of his later music), it’s the other songs just don’t cut it for me. “Rockestra" is just ok, "Salamander” I like, "Old Siam, Sir” I like. “Arrow Through Me” does nothing for me, and after that, I find it boring. Sorry I cannot agree with you, but that’s where we gotta agree to disagree!

Have no fear Bongo ! After the success of the last Review (?) I will be back with the next fab Wings album Venus And Mars I like your honesty Bongo . I also had the same trouble with McCartney in the 80`s . His albums just seemed to get more and more "Pop" for me Maybe I had outgrown his Music ? I was at the time of the late 70`s going absolutely bonkers about Rock Music and I just found Rush and they blew my mind and of course they were Touring like no one else then and songs about men in caves living forever and Ships going into black holes distracted me from anything McCartney was coming out with in the early 80`s and I guess Frog Song was really skating on thin Ice with my McCartney flag flying . He never seemed to better his Wings material for me ( He got better after the 80`s that God ) Maybe that`s why I still love the albums to this day . Here is Wings At Wembley footage .

Around 1990, maybe about the time McCartney was co-writing with Elvis Costello, Paul confessed that he was consciously writing non-Beatlesque songs after the Beatles breakup. I suppose this was sort of like Clapton playing Strats instead of Gibsons after the Cream breakup.
In the EBD thread, when the original poster wanted hypothetical song lineups from albums the Beatles would have made had they remained together, my suggested albums had a shortage of Paul's songs.

If it was early 70's Post Beatles, most of my music would have been lot's of Paul & Georges songs, then John's, and then it would have gotten week with only a handful of Ringo songs.
I wouldn't dare go Post Beatles beyond 1977 for any of them.....

I find it very interesting that in the last few posts on here are not in favour of McCartney`s career after Wings . And nobody on the is Forum has come on here and defended it ?! (Maybe there all on Rory`s ) After all this is a Beatle Forum, we all love McCartney don`t we ! So , I know it`s a bit off Wings topic but I would like to get to the bottom of it . Is it an age thing ? Most of us on this Forum are in our later years and we got into Beatles/Wings in our early ages . So is it an age thing , did we just grow out of McCartney`s "Pop" albums ? I remember being very disappointed when I first played McCartney II Tug Of War was slightly better then we had Pipes Of Peace . "Puts on Pink Floyd`s The Wall " Was McCartney dragged into the dire whimsical muzak that was around at the time ? Say Say Say ? Spies Like Us , We All Stand Together . Just 3 of McCartney`s that would`nt have even made it on a Beatle X Mas record . Was he releasing stuff like this because he thought they were good ? Or was he just surrounded by yes men and he had no Lennon to tell him to get a grip . Was McCartney human after all ? Had he lost his Midas touch when it came to songwriting I think not so much as Flowers In The Dirt a few years later was one hell of a relief and I still have a bit of love for this album . The Russian album also showed that McCartney still could blast a rock n roll tune albeit that they were covers . So why is it then I would rather listen to McCartney , Wild Life , Ram , Red Rose any time than put on McCartney`s later stuff I hav`nt even heard his New album . I just don`t want to go there , Im still struggling with The Frog Song . Anyone Agree / Disagree .
