It's not one of John's better-known guitars. He supposedly played it on "Paperback Writer" (George played a Gibson SG). This would have been at about the same time John began playing his Epiphone Casino. Apparently, John stuck with his Epiphone and, according to the Rolling Stone article, gave the Gretsch to his cousin in 1967. The cousin recently sold it to Robert Irsay, Colts' owner.

I think he might also own George's 1964 Gibson SG Standard used on Revolver. The guy must have a few bob.
