This is turning into a bad year. Death-wise, yes, I totally agree with you.

Not exactly a 'rock star' as such and not everbodys cup of tea either but he made the music charts with this :
Terry Wogan : 3rd August 1938 to 31 January 2016. R.I.P. Terry

I haven't heard much about him, but from what I know he will be missed.
One suggestion I have: since Alan Rickman and Sir Terry Wogsn weren't rock stars, perhaps we should open an obituary thread for those who haven't "died in rock"?

A lot of you probably never even heard of her, but I remember playing that 'Takes Off' lp when it first came out. She will surely be missed in my house. Signe Anderson R I P Jan.28. Here she is with Marty Balin, she comes on at 1:35

I heard that they were headed to another concert where traffic was stopped at a bridge for a ferry to cross. They attempted to jump the mote at over 100 mph and failed and the car plunged 80 feet into the water..

I remember this guy back in the 70's. Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks. Dan's songs were mostly humorous little ditties like this one "How Can I Miss You If You Don't Go Away" lol Dan passed away on Feb. 6th at the age of 74 from liver cancer. (1941-2016) R I P

I'm surprised that we missed this great man on this particular thread.
Colin Vearncombe (Black) - (Born 26 May 1962 – Died 26 January 2016). He died 2 weeks after being involved in a car crash. He was a Liverpudlian and a brilliant songwriter. This, I think was his finest moment :
R.I.P. Colin

So sad a man of such extraordinary talent, I saw ELP in the 70's and they blew me away. RIP Keith.
