Hello fellow beatlemaniacs!
You probably already heard some rumors about the rooftop concert in Barnaul, Siberia.
Well, here's a synopsis for those who didn't (see more details here beatleforum.proboards.com/post/33306/thread):
The thing is that we have a very cool roof, and we got an approval from the authorities, and the roof is the building of a very broad-minded radio station called Silver Rain radio. And the guys from the radio are glad to support this crazy idea technically and with info coverage.
So, we gathered 6 local bands that are willing and able and we're going to rock on the roof just like the Beatles did, you know the story anyway.
And we got this crazy idea about contacting someone from Liverpool who's actually involved in organizing the Beatleweek there. Now, AL (you all know him, I think) was very kind to contact some guys from Cavern City Tours on my behalf. And while we still have No Reply (and that's exactly the song by the Beatles that's haunting me these days) I started thinking about a backup move.
See, we live in the middle of Nowhereland (try googling Barnaul and you'll see) but we still have lots of hardcore Beatles fans here. This event will be the first of the kind and I wanted it to gather all of them on one roof (we're planning for about 150-200 guests) and prove that not only they are not alone in the city but th rest of the world also shares the same happiness and love that the Beatles shared with us.
So, here's my backup plan (and it's not hard to implement I hope):
Why don't we gather some short (10-15 seconds) video-greetings from all over the world and make one longer movie that I will play on the big screen before the concert starts? I know there's a lot of good folks on this forum. So, could you just take your phone and make a motion selfie saying something like: "Hi, I'm Rocky from North Dacota. Good luck with this rooftop concert. All you need is love!" or something like that? Or even better if you would say "Hello Barnaul! yada yada... And as for the spelling it would be something like BARN O' WOOL (yes, barn of wool) which is the closest to the Russian name we have.
Then you could pm a link to download or a link to youtube channel and I'd glue these little pieces of love together and pour them from the screen on the souls of local folks.
What do you think about it? I hope I'm not too rude and straight-forward with this offer.
I think this is the case when one minute of your time can do a world of good to a lot of good people.
Thanks for your time and consideration
Looking forward to seeing your smiling faces soon.
Best regards,
Sergey
