I thought that guitar was woodgrain until he had it painted black? ? I could be wrong!

Yes the Ric325 in the pic is black and John had it refinished in black in Oct.1962, so the gig would have to be after that. Then I found a list of their live performances and they only had a couple in '62 then went to Hamburg. So the pic must be 1963 and by the weather it looks like spring?.....

Hey Rocky, the photo dates from August 5th 1963 when the Beatles played at Abbotsfield Park in Urmston, Lancashire. The Town is now within the Metropolitan borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester. I've included another pic by the same photographer, this time showing Paul, George and Ringo
