Sir Paul McCartney will give away his latest studio album in a newspaper - in a bid to win over a new army of fans. The LP, Memory Almost Full, was released by coffee giant Starbucks' imprint Hear Music last year, selling just 100,000 copies to date. But the free giveaway is expected to move more stock, with the newspaper reaching up to two million homes in the UK. The managing director of the Daily Mail says, "If you look at how he came to do the Starbucks' album deal, it was a result of feeling unhappy with the music industry and looking at alternative ways of distribution. "I can't think of anyone else who has come up with the right alternative distribution than us." From here: uk.news.yahoo.com/wenn/20080508/ten-mccartney-to-give-away-album-c60bd6d.html

Yeah, well, maybe the general public isn't just that interested in Paul's music any more. Is the distribution to blame?
