I change my wallpaper often for no real reason. Prolly for the same reason I'm continually changing my avatar. Mr. Mustard hasn't changed his avatar since I came here, so presumably he hasn't changed his desktop either. Here's what I have today:

Why bring me into it! Loads of people don't change theirs around here. My avatar is synonymous with my forum name. If I changed my avatar then I would lose that link. Here is my current desktop picture or very similar to it. What type of bird is on your new desktop Amadeus?

I never knew. The bird on my screen is a shoebill. It's a four foot high member of the stork family. When birds become four feet high, they become a little scary. Imagine these in Hitchcock's movie.

Slightly obvious avatar I know. On the subject of scary birds, I was in a garden centre a couple of months a go and they had some birds of prey on display. There was the is owl and no word of a lie it was at least 3 high and had these massive eyes that just stared at me all the time. That was scary!

Here's my latest. A pic of the Dakota when it was newly built. In the history of New York, the grid had been mapped out up to just above midtown and Central Park but the building hadn't caught up yet. So, the builder of the Dakota basically built it in the countryside more or less. Just a few little structures around and about. Nowadays, it's surrounded! It was also the first apartment building that was considered suitable for 'proper' ladies and gentlemen.

Amazing image. Obvious questions: Where did John live? Which bit was 'Rosemary's Baby' filmed in?

John and Yoko lived in the encircled area and apparently owned 4 more apts. in the building, mainly used as office space and storage! Storage! And apparently, Rosemary's Baby used only exterior shots in the film. I could be wrong but I believe that is the case.
