Please be patient, I'm new here. So,my very first post concerns a great mystery that has haunted me as well as other Beatle fans for 47 years. When the Beatles 1966 summer tour schedule was first announced, a show was set for August 14 at Louisville Kentucky. It is listed in Mark Lewishon's book as well as the Beatles Anthology. I even have an original "Hit Parader" Teen mag from that year listing the show. My question is.......WHY was it switched to Cleveland Ohio? Does ANYBODY know? Would appreciate any solid info on this. Thanks, VeeJay Rick.

Hello veejayrick . I`ve blown the dust off my Beatle books and I yet can`t find the answer your looking for . As you know they played Cleveland on August 14th . But on 21 August The Beatles did two shows Crosley Field , Cincinnati Ohio . Then at night they played the re arrangement gig at Busch Stadium St. Louis . So the show did go ahead .
But why it was cancelled . Maybe the "Jesus" comment from John which had the Beatle camp very nervous at the time may have something to do with it .

I've been looking into this a lot. The only explanation I can find too is that it was cancelled because of John's Jesus comment. This was, apparently, one of the places that took most offence. Ironic really as it now holds a Beatles festival there every year!
Sorry, that's all I can come up with.

I was around then and if I remember correctly they were getting death threats and bomb threats to blow up the venue so they canceled. It was because of John's statement and Louisville is in The Bible Belt (a term they use for that section of the U.S.).

But the shows at Memphis, even deeper in the Bible Belt, went on as scheduled. Both of them. I was at the matinee show.

Yes, I agree with you Henry J. That's the best I could come up with at the time.
