A strange pic from 1961 - one of Stuart's final performances.

I think that is more than a double exposure, you can also see the audience.

That's an unusual pic of Paul singing without playing his bass at the same time. He's got kind of an Elvis pose, one hand at the mic. I don't recall seeing that this "late" in his career!

There looks like 8 or 9 exposures in that thing. Definitely either darkroom work, or photoshop. Where did you get it from?

Wow. I recognize some of these photos from the Anthology book, but there's many others I've never seen before. Fantastic! Thanks!
It's amazing to me that this stuff can surface like this at such a late date. Hamburg photos hold an especial fascination for me, and there are many great ones here. It's great to see Stu, too. Most Beatles books reprint the same two or three all the time.

It's amazing to me that this stuff can surface like this at such a late date. For sure. Who would have thought that a tape from the St Peter's Church fete could have been recorded and survived? Great photo. I thought of Astrid Kirchherr at first.

It was more than likely a mistake than someone being 'arty' - the film probably didn't wind on!

It was more than likely a mistake than someone being 'arty' - the film probably didn't wind on! Which sez everything you need to know about what I know about photography (somewhere there's a little button on the camera and you press that once your fingers are out of the way...) But apparently the photographer was Mike McCartney: www.beatlesource.com/savage/1961/61.03.00%20unknown/61.03.00irondoor.html

Ah, perhaps he DID know what he was doing then! In the old days, you had to wind the film on before taking your next pic - if you didn't, you got two photos merged together.

For sure. Who would have thought that a tape from the St Peter's Church fete could have been recorded and survived? Now that is amazing, yes. Unbelievable, even, but there you go. It's a strange, fab world...
