Our quiet one is often regarded as the most peaceful Beatle, tho Mr Lennon showed it off from '69. But how peaceful, understanding, charismatic and all that was he really? Any thoughts?

John did show it off from '69 with all those songs directed...erm... directly at society. The thing is John entertwined politics with it and he sang about controversial things (which is why i suppose he got ummm... yea...). So he talks about peace but not in a peaceful way, as it were. Whereas George was peaceful in the way that he wrote about all those spiritual stuff, you know, not pointing at society, saying "all we are saying is give peace a chance" but he talked to God or the Lord (or whoever). He maditated and all, which is also peaceful...
I think a good adjective to describe Geroge would be Spiritual. He has devoted most of his time (perhaps too much?) to Spiritualism.

John preached peace and, to a certain extent, George preached religion and therefore peace. That's a rather simplistic view, but I think it's mainly true.

Your last sentance rhymed (kind of). But yea, I agree. If you wanted to go to the extreme, John would be a pacifist and George a missionary...? Not sure about that though. They both wanted peace and both talked about it but they achieved (or have they?) it differently.

I suppose. But when I said missionary I meant to focus on the religious part of it...

OK. I'm giving this a bash. On a 1 to 10 scale Peacefulness: 8 (didn't invade Poland, but failed to dedicate life to orphanage) Understanding: 9 (he let his best mate shag his missus, but said mean things about the Japanese) Charisma: 3 (sorry not his thing.) And All That: 8 (squeezed a lot of juice out of a rather dry orange)

LOL! I like Kevin's response! I'd put his charisma higher-- I agree, he wasn't Magnet Man, but he certainly wasn't repulsive. Give the man at least a 6. Mrs K, will you come back and tell us what you mean by "and all that"? Cheers.

I think Mrs K means that George was into the Eastern religions.
