Legend and recollections have it that Paul and John were first introduced at the July 6 1957 Quarrymen gig at the Woolten fete. But isn't that Paul in the audience at the June 22 1957 gig, checking Lennon (or perhaps some bird) out? If not, it's his double. Do you think it's Macca? Here's my write up with supporting photos & video: www.beatleswiki.com/wiki/index.php/Paul_McCartney_in_Audience_Watching_The_Quarrymen! Cheers... Tim

This photo is also in Philip Norman's Shout from 1981. This was the first Beatles book I ever had. I remember thinking when I looked at the photo at the time that it looked like Paul but as nothing was mentioned in the photo description of him a presumed it wasn't.
There's more chance of it being Paul than not I feel. He went on holiday to Filey that summer. It would be interesting to rule out that he wasn't on holiday while this photo was taken.
