So apparently the Mathew St Festival is using local bands this year, as they are having funding trouble. Rocks Off are not coming this year, to play the festival or Beatleweek. Whos next? I love a lot of British bands who play but most of my favourites are international. I cant imagine a BW with just british bands. I am probably jumping the gun slightly but if a popular band like Rocks Off are 'dropped' then whos next?

It's still a great line up of confirmed bands with many international... beatlesfestival.co.uk/?page_id=1902Given it's a celebration of Beatles music then Rocks Off is no great loss.

I can`t see the problem of not being many International bands or Rocks Off . I go for the buzz of it , in Liverpool meeting fellow Forum buddies, Beatle fans from all over and a nice pint in the Grapes . What more do you need

In these times of council budgets being slashed left, right and centre we should be relieved Beatleweek is still on. To be honest, looking at the programme, it's hard to see where any cuts have been made if the budget has been slashed. Rocks Off must have been charging some money if they are the only band that have been dropped because of budget cuts! However, it was my understanding that bands weren't paid that much anyway - just expenses, accomodation, beer money etc. This is why the bigger name bands like Fab Faux, The Overtures etc started putting on their own shows at the Royal Court were they would take most of the door/ticket money. Someone tell me if this is not the case.

Bands no longer even get accommodation.
Bigger name bands that get head liners at the big venues get paid but often less than their usual fee.
MSF is financially separate from BW although ties in and often uses the same bands. Those that play MSF get paid - which helps some of the internationals afford the BW visit.
This is how i understand it anyway from the people I've talked to.
