There's actually some contention over the painting that Julian was said to have done at the age of 4 - some people say it's too good for a 4 year-old to have painted.

You know it's me. Actually, Julian was about 3.5 years old by the time of this painting. That's plain ridiculous. I'm not saying there wasn't a painting, but this one certainly isn't it.

LOL! There was a picture of the painting somewhere - I'll see if I can find it so others may judge.

If Julian really made this picture, he was about three and a half years old. This picture was made about two years later. Made by Julian Lennon. Even if Julian has a huge amount of talent, the first picture was never made by any child of his age. I'd like to believe that it was made by his father to cover up the story of the painting. And even if you believe that Julian really draw the first painting, you got to admit that his technique didn't really improve in two years. On the contrary.

Ah that date in the other picture has clearly been altered!! LOL! and that's obviously not his writing below the three pics - unless he'd mastered apostrophes! I love a good conspiracy theory! But I do actually agree with you - I think maybe the song did grow out of something Julian said but the picture only "emerged" to back up the story after the BBC banned the track.

there is of course another theory - the original painting was so awful that it got 'lost' as many parents do their child's art and someone else along the way has created something similar to cover for John's 'loss' of the original.
The Lucy Voden quote on the petition site implies the picture was painted - that one looks like crayon/chunky pencil to me.

OMG next you'll be telling me there's no Father Christmas!!! LOL I think the evidence is pretty damning to be honest - obviously Julian didn't draw that pic! So, if it's returned to him what's he going say when he realises it's not his artwork?!

So, if it's returned to him what's he going say when he realises it's not his artwork?! That brings us to another point. Julian obviously doesn't realise that as he used the painting for a release last year. I guess he was told later that this was the painting. Can you remember every drawing or painting you made when you were three and a half years old? Julian can't either I think.

it's also used in his collection book the A Hard Day's Write book (think b&W cover possibly with stripes printed in the 90s) which had a colour photo of Lucy taken in the 80s/90s i thought showed a pic of the painting - but don't think it looked like this one. Anyone got the book to confirm? the copy i remember looking at wasn't mine and if i got one it's a hundred miles away in fact it looked like this...
