The Merseybeat Story celebrating the 80th birthday of Allan Williams, “the man who gave the Beatles away”
Feb 10 2010 by Lorna Hughes, Birkenhead News
THE “MAN who gave the Beatles away” is celebrating his 80th birthday at the Grosvenor Ballroom, Liscard on Sunday, February 21.
Allan Williams met the band in the Jacaranda coffee bar in Liverpool, which he ran, and offered to find them gigs.
He organised their famous dates in Hamburg, travelling with them to the German city where they first established their playing credentials. But they later parted company following a row over payments.
The event, which has been organised by the Merseybeat Story in conjunction with rock ‘n’roll charity Merseycats, will feature live Merseybeat music from a host of bands and local celebrities.
Tickets are £5 from Fort Perch Rock in New Brighton, call 0797 628 2120 or e-mail d.darroch@ntlworld.com
The show takes place from 2.30 to 5.30pm.

Interesting, ta.
If I can't make it 'over the water' to Liscard, I'll just pop down to Crosby beach, I'll be able to hear Allan's big, booming voice from there!

I always have to think of McCartney's remark of the release of Allan's book: "Congratulations on the book Allan. There's even some things in it that are true."
