Just been watching the Royal Variety Performance (yawn) but then CIRQUE DU SOLEIL did and act with guess what? George's acoustic version of 'While my guitar gently weeps' the actual recording. It looked like they added a few strings but it was great to see it being used. If you have access to the BBC iplayer check it out.

Been on a major Procol Harum kick lately...love all the albums up to and including Procol's Ninth. Ever since I heard A Whiter Shade of Pale when I was a kid, there's always been something about Gary Brooker's voice that is just magic to my ears. Kinda like Sir Paul, it doesn't really matter what they sing, that voice is just perfection. What better way to celebrate Procol Harum & Christmas than with a hot helping of Still There'll Be More from the December 27, 1971 Beat Club German TV special

A while ago I read Guy Pratt's hilarious autobiography My Bass and other Animals in which he talks about his career, which included recording and toring with Bryan Ferry and also Pink Floyd. In the Eighties he played with the Australian band Icehouse, who. I must admit, I wasn't familiar with. Last night, flipping channels, there was an episode of TOTP from about 1983, which featured a band playing a number which immediately hooked me. It was this..... .... and it's now added to my favourites playlist.

I bought that track back at the time it was released, Such a strange TOTP episode with Wham and a young George Michael. Also saw BBC 4 Prog Rock and so many great bands and recently departed musicians.

Nice happy song. Here's another from that era , a very joyful performance , the singer and the crazy guy with the tambourine went on to play with "The Mothers of Invention.

New to me and isn't it fascinating that John's voice works in the dub format.

Purchased three Maiden albums, Powerslave, Seventh Son, and Fear of the Dark, and a Death album, Symbolic, and thus I've become a happy D.T.
