Read this on Macca-Central: SIR PAUL McCartney and Ringo Starr are looking at releasing the Beatles back catalogue through their own website. The two surviving members, along with the estates of the late John Lennon and George Harrison, have been negotiating with Apple about an iTunes release. But Harrison's son Dhani told Blender that they are not satisfied with the offer made by Apple and they may go elsewhere. He said: "We're losing money every day. So what do you do? You have to have your own delivery system, or you have to do a good deal with Steve Jobs. "But he says that a download is worth 99 cents, and we disagree." Meanwhile, the Beatles edition of the Rock Band video game has been given a September 9 release date. --Smart move or not? Regards, Beatle Bob

That "99c" thing will be hard to buck, isn't it the sort of universal price? True-blue fans might pay more, but I think they will have a harder time attracting new fans if they charge more.

All iTunes downloads for individual tracks are the same price - I think it will be sending the wrong message if The Beatles' downloads are more expensive - why should they be?

They have made their millions already! This just comes off as greedy, if you ask me.
