Has anyone here seen this group Humble Pie before? I have. I have met them once as well. My dad took me to see them when I was about seven or eight years old. I remember meeting Jerry Shirely and receiving an autographed drumstick from him. He is a really nice guy. My favorite songs from Humble Pie are Stone Cold Fever and 30 Days in the Hole.

Yeah I've heard of Humble Pie - are they still going?!!
Their original line-up was quite a who's who of rock when first formed - it included Steve Marriott who was the lead singer/songwriter of The Small Faces and Peter Frampton who had just left The Herd!
Peter Frampton later had a few Beatle connections of course - he starred in the film/musical Sgt Pepper and later toured in Ringo's All Star band!

Love Humble Pie. I never took much notice of them until about 10 years ago when I first met my old mate Dave Clark, who turned out to be one of the worlds' biggest authorities on Steve Marriot. I stayed at his flat for a few months before I moved to Denmark, and every other day a fresh package of vinyl would be delivered by the postman. All Small Faces, Humble Pie stuff.
Anyway, I was very lucky to see Steve Marriots Packet Of Three at The Half Moon in Putney, about a year before he died. Blinding evening.
Favourite song: Four Day Creep, from Rockin' the Fillmore.

Last I heard they are still going...They do have a website and I know Peter Frampton still peforms. Not sure what Jerry Shirley is up to. I know that he was the drummer for them. If I hear any news about them I will keep you guys updated on that.

They are not still going. The original Humble Pie split in 1975. There was a reunion for two albums in the early 80's before they split again. Steve Marriott died in a house fire in 1991. Jerry Shirley has fronted a band known as 'Humble Pie Featuring Jerry Shirley', but they no longer perform, though Jerry and other original members of Pie played at the Steve Marriott tribute concert in 2001.

Omg..I never knew that happened to Steve. I guess i was too young to remember that. That is so sad. I thought maybe they were still peforming. But I still listen to their music a lot though.

Humble Pie were a great rock & roll band, without a doubt & should have been as big as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath & Grand Funk at the time. I haven't listened to any of their classic rock albums sadly but I Don't Need No Doctor kicks butt.

Funny you should mention Led Zeppelin. When Page was trying to form a band post-Yardbirds, he was actually considering Marriot for vocals and Keith Moon for drums.

I always liked Humble Pie. I discovered them because of Steve Marriot and the Small Faces. Then I found out Frampton had been with them. My favorite H.P. songs are "I Don't Need No Doctor", "Live With Me", "30 Days in the Hole" and "Natural Born Boogie" (aka "Natural Born Woman"). I never saw them live but there's a DVD out now, I think it's called "Live at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go". I think it was filmed in '69 or '70. It should be good.

Saw them at the first as support to The Who, (Greg Ridley ex-Spooky Tooth had replaced Frampton by then,) at the first Charlton gig, and in my humble(pie)n opinion they were the best band on the day, which I even think Pete Townshend would admit to, not having a very favourable opinion of his own bands performance on that day. The first memory I have of the band is a Top of the Pops appearance where Tony Blackburn interviewed them, they kept calling him as Eamonn all the way through,(EamonnAndrews was an old TV presenter of the "old school", for those too young to remember). Tone was quite embarassed. Anyway, this is the number they're best remembered for, and comparisons were made with Get Back at the time.
