I have a question for most of you... have you ever heard a song that you like so much it just takes over your life? Not many people are affected and/or infected by music like I am - so it's a difficult brain disorder to describe!
Every now and then I hear a song that I welcome into my life like a lost brother. Have Love Will Travel by The Sonics was one of those songs. I first heard this it in a bloody Land Rover car advert - when the music started I dashed around trying to find a bit of paper to write the lyrics down so I could look them up on the internet. I eventually tracked the song down and played it constantly over and over again. Then I found some more of their tracks and each one affected me the same way!
I have no idea how I had never heard of them before but apparently The Hives had, and have cited The Sonics as being a massive influence on their sound - I can see that too, as I'm also a big fan of The Hives!
Anyway, enough rubbish - here is The Sonics... PLAY LOUD!

Sounds great! I share your brain disorder by the way. I have had it with a lot of Beatles songs. I couldn't afford to buy complete albums back then, so I checked certain radio-playlists that were published in magazines to see if and when Beatlessongs should be played. Of course I preferred the ones I did not know yet. I remember recording Another Girl from the radio and I played that over and over again. The same thing happened with The Body Electric by Rush. The middle eight of Hope by Klaatu did not want to leave my head. There's a lot of songs like that. Sulk by Radiohead is another one and currently You Picked Me by A Fine Frenzy is a new member of the family.

The last song that did that to me was Insomnia by faithless. The bit where the big dance bit crashes in still makes me shiver.

Funny this should come up - I've heard about them for years. Then just got the CD compilation. Some great stuff on there, very trashy and cool.
IF you like this stuff I would think another band you'd love would be The Music Machine - search out their song/video "Talk Talk". GREAT! Or The Creation - find them!!!

Thanks Brian - I'll definitely check out The Music Machine. I have a couple of tracks by The Creation though - sort of psych/mod band, love it! I'll post a few tracks here later.
