I don't know if anyone here has ever heard of a band from Canada named Sloan. They've put out recordings for a number of years, but only one has really turned me on my head. "Between The Bridges" is the only CD I've ever heard aside from Abbey Road featuring three distinct singer/songwriters doing their own songs in their own arrangements. Similar to Abbey Road, the majority of songs flow one into the next. If you've never heard it, try to find it and give it a listen. It is really an amazing piece of work.

Howdy. Nice to see Sloan mentioned here. I'm in Toronto, otherwise known as The Centre Of The Universe (much to the chagrin of the rest of the country). This Sloan album is one of my favorites of all time. It hangs together well as a complete unit and every song is a cracker! Over at Music By Day, (home page) I did an article about Sloan. They are a national treasure. They don't sound like Nickleback at all! Feel free to stop by Amadeus' Multi-purpose Thread for more Canadiana, as The USAmericans tend to avalanche their embarrassing nonsense on an unsuspecting world so the good stuff can't be heard. And I consider it my duty (doody ) to rectify the situation. One website at a time.

RUSH and HEART just to name a few. I am pretty familiar with SLOAN, I just haven't heard their music in a while. I'm going to have to pull out my CD albums and look for them seeing that I own well over 5000 CD's. Take care amadeus.
