Where is Pink Floyd and your boys the Rolling Stones? Clapton. (Yardbirds, Blind Faith, Cream.) Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) don't tell me they've been taken over by that goof Elton John.

I think the map uses bands where all the band members are from the same county.
Led Zep Plant / West Brom Staffordshire Bonham / Redditch, Worcestershire Page / Heston, West London Jones / Sidcup, Kent
Rolling Stones Mick Jagger / Dartford, Kent Keith Richards / Dartford, Kent Charlie Watts / Bloomsbury, London Brian Jones / Cheltenham, Gloucestershire Bill Wyman / Lewisham, South London Mick Taylor / Hatfield, Hertfordshire Ronnie Wood / Yiewsley, Middlesex
Cream Eric Clapton / Ripley, Surrey Jack Bruce / Bishopbriggs, Lanarkshire, Scotland Ginger Baker / Lewisham, South London
So all these bands are nul and void in this instance

I think they got Deep Purple wrong. I am surprised that Elton John outsold Bowie. Rocky I don't mind some of Elton Johns stuff Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is my favourite.

I'm still baffled by this, is this suppose to be NEW bands that are still actively playing that are # 1 in that county or is it just where they are from and they are # 1 in that county? Cause the Beatles are on there and haven't played together for 50 years! I wouldn't know who is # 1 in Liverpool now. Tears For Fears aren't around anymore either. And like you said all the band members have to be from that same area too to be on there.

I think it is a flawed map but I find some of it fascinating. I think it is artists who were all from the same districts. The Beatles are still the biggest act from Liverpool all these years on, the map is supposed to show biggest acts ever. Many are wrong because like I mentioned the members are born in different parts of the country. Hence no Led Zep Queen or Stones. Here is the USA version.

Whitney Houston out sold Bruce or Sinatra? The Eagles out sold the Beach Boys? George Strait outsold ZZ Top? Prince out sold Dylan? The Fray over Woody Guthrie? Backstreet Boys over Tom Petty or Lynard?

This map seems as flawed as the UK one. I wondered about the Eagles v Beach Boys I know that The Eagles sold tons of LP's but were The Beach Boys as big a seller with their LP's as they were singles. Prince v Dylan struck me as odd. Dylon obviously sold well in the 1960's early to mid 1970's, Prince seemed to seel steadily for around 35 years. I cannot see how Whitney outsold Bruce. Surely Tom Petty sold over a longer period than the other two. Woodie Guthrie must have sold steadily for decades. I do not know enough to make a call on The Fray and ZZ Top
I dont know enough about these artists careers to make a call and again are they saying the entire line up of the act must come from each state. Very confusing.
