I enjoyed looking at many of the early discs. Never knew about the black apple label and still cannot get my head around how different the US releases were to the familiar UK versions.

Yeah I remember the fights the different DJ's had playing Beatle songs on the radio. I remember the local radio stations would actually send someone over to England to get the LP first and play it to them over the telephone so they could tape it and play the different songs that were on those LPs and then on the air you would hear 'Beatle Exclusive' mentioned through out the song every few seconds with the radio stations call letters. It was also a deturent if you wanted tape it. ha-ha You had to live in that era pothos to really appreciate it.

Now, I don't remember any of that going on, but I do remember hearing "I'll Be Back" in late summer 1964 on WNOE-AM 1060, New Orleans. That song was not on the American AHDN or the Capitol Something New but was rather held for Beatles '65 (which had most of the songs from With the Beatles). I thought "I'll Be Back" was a great song and have wondered why Dave Dexter didn't put it on Something New, instead of "Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand." I couldn't understand what they were singing.

What else was funny was when they were on their American tour and in between songs either Paul or John would introduce the next song they were going to play and neither one knew what the hell LP the song was on! They use to stutter and look at one another for help. lol Funny stuff.
