OK, we all know that the one drawback of the Ask The Expert board is that once a question has been posted and responded to by an Expert, no-one else - including the original poster - can respond. Ideally, I would have liked to set up this board so that once a question has been asked and responded to by an Expert, the topic would then be opened up to ALL members. Sadly, this is not possible. However, here is an alternative suggestion... On the ask the Experts board, keep it the same, where anyone can post new threads, but only Experts can answer. However, a sub-board could be created, called 'Answered Questions' (or something) where once an expert has answered, that Expert would then move the thread to the new 'Answered Questions' sub-board, where everyone else can join in the discussion. What do you think? Special thanks to Alexis for getting me thinking about this problem again!

Good idea, go for it. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there with an answer to certain things or people who do not have the time to be a named expert but would like to contribute to the expert section.

First of all, great site, AL, you have really done a good service! Your suggestion is a good one that will give all who have info the opportunity to post. One potential drawback will be in situations like this thread --- beatleforum.proboards42.com/index.cgi?board=songs&action=display&thread=898&page=1 --- by blueblackbird currently on the board in the expert section - no expert answered, so no one of us non-experts were able to talk about the really interesting question he had. An alternative way to set up the expert board might be to open it to all right from the start. The expert board might be where experts would go initially when they sign on to the forum. Perhaps you could give them a special color or font, so when readers peruse the board, they will understand what posts are from the experts, vs what posts are from us mere mortal fans But at least all questions will have a chance to be addressed, whether an expert chimes in or not. Anyway, thanks again for setting up a super (and fab and gear of course ) board!

Cheers mate! What we could do in situations like that (where no experts answer!) is move the question straight to the "Expert Open Forum".
