Sad news that Lemmy [Motorhead] has died. He was a big Beatles fan, and used to see them at the Cavern. A true Rock star.

Last night I had just finished watching an episode of Columbo, and had just gotten on Twitter, when I saw Metallica had a picture of Lemmy, and the words RIP underneath. I thought, "What?! That can't be true!" Well, after some quick research, I found that it was true.
Motorhead is not my favorite band, or even favorite metal band, but I do like them. They have a very raw sound, helped by Lemmy's rough vocals. And Lemmy himself seemed sort of immortal. Sure, we knew he would die someday, but when a person lives the kind of wild life that Lemmy did, it's surprising when it's not that which kills them. For instance, he estimated that he'd slept with over 1,000 women! And yet it was cancer that took him from us.
RIP, Lemmy. We'll never forget.

One of my friends had a photo shoot with him a few years ago. Said he was one the most polite rock stars he ever met, an exact opposite of his rock persona on stage of giving the finger and swearing all the time.

A true legend and inspiration to so many metal bands. He was Hendrix's roadie and claims he had arranged to jam with him only a few days after his death with a view to forming a band. Imagine Lemmy and Hendrix in a band together!
If all his excesses are to be believed, then I'm surprised he lasted this long!
Allegedly he used to drink half a gallon of Jack Daniels a day, according to his manager, but because of diabetes he switched to vodka and orange!!! Whether it's true or not is unimportant. It's as funny as hell and totally fits the legend.

That's weird that two members in the same band died within 6 weeks of one another.

On a previous topic of great metal band logos, Motorhead's is definitely the first classic one.

Here in the States, certain Sirius XM stations (satellite radio) have been doing a lot of Motorhead, Motorhead covers, etc., lately. It's been really neat to listen to.

Here’s the Lemmy docu. It’s more about Lemmy than it is about Motorhead and it’s definitely worth a watch!
