Hi,
This is my first post, so I apologize if question is posted in the wrong thread area, etc.
Every Saturday, I play the Beatles for my kids. Just figure the might as well learn and enjoy something when they're off from school.
Today, I played the "Magical Mystery Tour" LP. Instead of the Capitol 80s repress I've been listening to for years, I pulled out an Apple pressing I picked up somewhere along the way.
When I played "Hello, Goodbye," my jaw dropped. The mix was completely different! The strings are pushed way to the front, while the percussion and, to me, trademark high hat, are mixed far in the back.
This is a Stereo pressing, of course. Not Mono. But the mix is completely different from what I've heard before.
Am I hallucinating? Do I have a blown speaker? Any ideas?

A couple of ideas. Oh BTW, welcome to the forum. Stick around.
One scenario: The record is wearing unevenly or it's a second rate pressing. I have a couple of 'White Albums' and on one copy, a '70's Capitol pressing, 'While My Guitar...', the drums and bass are nearly inaudible. On 'Helter Skelter' the drums are over loud.
2nd scenario: Your stylus is wearing out.
3rd scenario: What country is it from? Once in a while an odd mix would slip through in different territories for a short time. And those are impossible to find these days since it was ALL standardized in '87. I know for sure (almost, because I heard it) that a domestic (Canada) Apple pressing of Revolver had a nicer mix of 'Got To Get You Into My Life' where the muffled drum roll before the chorus is mixed loud and clear. I so wish they used that mix on the '87 stuff.
Maybe
