Hi, I've read in some Beatles vinyl collecting books (actually American releases) about album covers made of "posterboard". Can someone tell me what is a "posterboard" cover?
Cheers!

Hi Juancabeatles. Welcome to the forum. Check here again in case I'm wrong but the original UK albums were issued in thin, floppy posterboard sleeves while the US albums were issued in heavy cardboard sleeves. More durable I would think.
Anyone else?

Yes, but during the mid 70's they switched to this "posterboard". So I guess it refers to the material it was made of, right? Not so much they way it was constructed and assembled.

Just as a point of interest. In the UK the record sleeves were assembled differently by the '70s. It went from this: To this: In the US. It went from the cover photo being pasted onto the cardboard: To being printed right on the cardboard (no white frame): That's all.

Yes! Because they used a long, printed posterboard to assemble the covers. Thanks Amadeus! Question answered.
