Hi!
My name is William Austin Higgins, and I go by Austin. I live in Houston, TX and am a college student at a small community college that has its own rock station which I am a DJ at. 89.7 KACC-FM, the Gulf Coat Rocker! "Slim Higgins in the afternoon" is my name and I was on Thursdays from Noon-3:00, but next week it will become Tuesdays from 2:00-6:00, which I am really excited about because I already have a critically-acclaimed show and hopefully I will be able to get a bigger audience at the new time.
Working at the rock station is the main reason I have become a huge Beatles fan; because where I come from, it's cornbread and chicken. I am a big country music person and that will never change. I first started to take interest in The Beatles last summer when I saw their performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. I only became a really big fan this February which was right after I became a DJ at the station. When I was very young though, Ringo was pretty much the voice of my childhood because I watched a lot of Thomas The Tank Engine.
Other than one of my grandmothers and a few of my cousins, I am really the only person in my family that likes The Beatles. My dad particularly does not like them for various personal reasons, but I do not let personal reasons affect my love for the music.
I have lots of appreciation for full albums and not just singles; and this applies to all genres of music I listen to. Having listened to all of The Beatles albums now, I can safely say that my favorite ones are (in no particular order): With The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's, Abbey Road, Rubber Soul, Please Please Me, and The White Album...
...I also really LOVE the Love album!
Several weeks ago I made a video with a friend of mine talking about the Capitol Albums in the first half of it and other music aspects in the second half. It can be viewed here. We will probably be making another video soon talking about the inclusion of singles in albums and about the artwork of a full album.
I hope to enjoy this forum!
