What? Aren't they the most obvious? I don't know how to post songs, but which is the one that lifts the Imagine piano intro? And how many other songs are not just influenced by the Beatles but have parts that are actually borrowed from them? Not to mention all the other bands that "inspired" them. Good band, but slightly derivitive. As McCartney says.

The song to which Sondra is referring is called "Don't Look Back In Anger". I'll try to post it later (unless someone bears me to it!).

I don't know how to post songs Here's how: In the same way that you can post YouTube videos in your topics, you can now post Audio (.mp3 .wav .mid) and video (.mpe4g .avi .mov .wmv) links!!!! Here's how it works.... After you click "new thread" you will note that next to the YouTube button there are two new buttons: = AUDIO BUTTON = VIDEO BUTTON Click one of the buttons and enter the link to the audio or video file like this: [music] enter the URL [/music]
[video] enter the URL [/video]
Simple as that!! Give it a try!! IMPORTANT NOTE:Please only post links to existing audio or video on the web that others have already uploaded as it is illegal for you to upload copyrighted material. For info: some web-users upload to free hosting sites such as these: Ripway - Hosts Most File Types File Up Yours - Hosts anything

Imagine.... oops, I mean, Don't Look Back In Anger by Oasis [music]http://www.fileupyours.com/files/142550/dlbia.mp3[/music] Damn, I forgot how much I liked that song. I think I prefer it when Noel sings. He doesn't do the whole affected slurring type thing. If Liam were singing it it'd be all: pleeeeaaase don't put your life in the haaaannnnddsssuuhh of a rock and roll baaaaannnndduuuhh. Posting the music looks easy, but I have no idea where to go to find it. Thanks for posting that Al. Okay, another intro that sounds suspiciously familiar would be the intro to She's Electric. Sounds a lot like With a Little Help From My Friends does it not? This is all I could figure out how to do. I feel stupid! www.rhapsody.com/goto?rcid=tra.1010184&variant=play&lsrc=RN_im

Yes it does sound a bit like With A Little Help From My Friends - I'll post that for you tomorrow!
Have you heard All Around The World? That song contains every single Beatle cliché there is, and comes complete with a Yellow Submarine-esque video!!! It also happens to be the longest UK number one ever (duration-wise) - was the previous longest Hey Jude?.

Have I heard that song? You have no idea! They use it for AT&T commericals on tv and radio. That commercial was played ENDLESSLY when it came out. It's only now dying down. The only time I ever heard that song played on the radio was when they were playing the advertisement. Finally I downloaded it from iTunes so I could hear more than twelve seconds of it. Only to realize I much preferred the twelve second version. Too damn long!
Here's how we were introduced to the song:

It didn't float my boat much though, too "derivative" without emotional content (for me). Makes me wonder if I like Beatles music NOW because of the music, or because of the Beatles! ??

All Around The World is basically a slowed down version of Eight Days A Week.

So You Can't Always Get What You Want, Us and Them, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, or Welcome to the Macine never made it to number 1? What a shame. Is All Around the World really worth a number one? I guess compared to all the other garbage it is! Just an aside, how well has Pink Floyd done in the UK? Any number ones for them? I would think they would have done rather well there as they were pretty huge here. They're very English sounding so I would expect more number ones over there!

I think Pink Floyd have only ever had one number one in the UK - another Brick In The Wall 1977 (?).

'You Can't Always Get What You Want' was a b-side, even in the States. None of the Floyd songs you mentioned were released as singles. In fact, they didn't release that many singles, and when they were, they were really only to promote an album, and not expected to chart.

Interesting. I don't know about singles and b sides and stuff. It's amazing with all the classic songs they had that they never had more than one number one! Why didn't they release many singles? Was it just something they didn't care about? Doesn't the record company make you? No idea. Also, You Can't Always Get What You Want is pretty damn good for a B side! What was the A side? I guess I can look that one up!
