He does have his critics . But I`ve seen him live 4 times and every time he`s blown me away. I think he has lost his edge over the last few years when it comes to albums . But his early albums are incredible in my humble

A little known fact was that Jimi Hendrix was part Cherokee, his mother's mother, his Grandmother, Zenora Rose Moore known as 'Nora'. A few times young Jimi was taken to Vancouver, British Columbia to stay with her under her care. A very rare unrealesed version of 'Cherokee Mist' by Jimi (Jan.7,1970)

The Damn Truth are playing in Manchester on the 17th of Feb. 2022 , I`ll be 60 that day..
Anyway !
An interesting piece of news (to me anywho ) came out today that Scott Gorham has left The Black Star Riders . The reason is that he wants to bring back Thin Lizzy . Now , this maybe good news to Lizzy fans like myself as Black Star Riders basically had dropped all Lizzy songs barring one from their set list . And as much as some of the Riders stuff was good and very Lizzy influenced , it was a bit of a blow as they certainly did the songs justice and for an ol` Lizzy fan like myself almost brought tears to my eyes .
So the 70 year old Scott is going to bring Lizzy back and it even seems he want`s to tour !
I don`t know the whole story behind the kicking out of John Sykes who was the last official Guitarist of the Thin Lizzy when Phil was still with us , but I think the 62 year Sykes wont be picking up Scott`s call . The 70 year old Brian Downey who stood down from the "Lizzy " reboot 11 years ago if my memory serves me well . So I can not see Our Brian putting away the pipe and slippers to go back on road .
So then I do not know how Scott is going to reboot Lizzy again and get away with the name of Thin Lizzy . Scott was an almost already bit part player in Black Star Riders in concert and that must have been 6 years ago when I last saw them . At the end of the day Phil Lynott was the singer , bass player and for the most part song writer , and as that ol` saying goes .(?) No Phil, it`s not Lizzy . Scott is basically getting a tribute band together and if he has any sense he should call it anything but Thin Lizzy and just put under the name .. Playing Songs of Thin Lizzy . Being 60 isn`t so bad when a 70 year old wants to tour the world with a balls to wall Rock set . Good luck with that .
The boys in there glory years ..

Another thing that has been that`s been whirling around my empty head for weeks now is this What are the best top ten greatest Rock songs ever ! Tough, as for me that Rock is so good that even today there some songs that I`ve listened too for well over 40 years still blow my mind of how good they sound . You get the idea . As ever it`s all down to everyone`s opinion . But I`m going to give you mine , and I`ve been pondering this for so long now I need to put in black n white . As you will see they are all very popular go to Rock classics and that can not be helped because no matter how many times you have heard a song to the point that you never want to here it again , it still doesn`t take away the fact it`s a Rock masterpiece . If you have ten , please put it on here. The only rule is they have to be Rock , which I guess it`s all about opinion ! Ok, here they are .
1.Voodoo Chile ( Slight Return ) - Jimi Hendrix
2. Stargazer - Rainbow
3. Won`t Get Fooled Again - The Who
4. Too Rolling Stoned - Robin Trower
5. Space Truckin (Live ) Deep Purple
6. War Pigs - Black Sabbath
7. Freebird - Lynerd Skynerd
8. Hurricane - Neil Young
9. Alive - Pearl Jam
10. Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin
And also ..
The Rolling Stone Magazine have "updated " the 500 Best songs of all time . Here is the top ten .
1. Respect - Aretha Franklin 2. Fight The Power - Public Enemy 3. A Change is gonna Come - Sam Cooke 4. Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan 5. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana 6. What`s Going On - Marvin Gaye 7. Strawberry Fields - The Beatles 8. Get Ur Freak On - Missy Elliott 9. Dreams - Fleetwood Mac 10. Hey Ya ! - Outcast
Anyone agree ?

Favourite Rock Songs. 1 * Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin (Immagrent Song is a close second) 2 * Ace of Spades - Motorhead 3 * Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana 4 * Paranoid - Black Sabbath 5 * Masters of the Universe - Hawkwind (easily swapped for Silver Machine if mood takes me) 6 * All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix 7 * I Feel Fine - Cream 8 * Come on Feel the Noise - Slade 9 * Urgent - Foreinger 10* Can the Can - Suzi Quatro 11 * The Chain Fleetwood Mac I would have dropped Missey Elliot and added a Dusty Springfiled track and added Prince's Purple Rain for Hey Ya. I am also not sure I would have The Beatles Strawberry Fields. I might pick Paperback Writer, Rain or A Day in the Life.
By the way did The Bealtes ever play Paperback Writer live?.

Amazing. I love that riff just before the verse kicks in . Is that George or John playing that and Rocky will know the guitar playing that riff. That is so rock as well when you hear it and boy what a great live track.

I have a bit of a mission this calendar year to go to as many Gigs I can . After the 2 year plus nightmare of the Covid . I`ve appreciated life and Music and I`m not wasting any of it ! 3 Gigs done already and I will get them down on the Gig thread , beyond the lighted stage . Which the title is borrowed from Rush . Well folks Rush are no longer and Alex has now formed his own band , so that then is why I bought a ticket to go and see Primus who are coming to the U.K. to play the whole A Farewell To Kings album . a blast indeed . Primus are the kings of crazy Videos and have some killer tunes . Like this one
And ! Got a Clutch ticket .
