Any thoughts on this album? Some great songs "It's What You Value", "Beautiful Girl", "This Song". And "Crackerbox Palace" is wayyy to catchy!

I must confess I lost track of George's solocarreer after All Things Must Pass and Living In The Material World. All albums after that sounds more or less the same to my ears. Crackerbox Palace is a nice song tho.

I just won a Beatles quiz on another forum, and have chosen this album as a prize. So I'll let you know when I've listened to it. Many people seem to think that it's his best album after ATMP, so I'm suitably intrigued.

Well done Paul - what were the questions like?

Well done Paul - what were the questions like? Fairly easy, otherwise I wouldn't have won!! A few tough ones thrown in for good measure though.

33 1/3 is a great album from George, without a doubt & Crackerbox Palace is my all time second favorite solo single by him. The videos for This Song & CB are much better than any of the latest crap these days. Nobody ever seems to mention what a cool album cover as well with his red, white & blue glasses. It's too bad he didn't tour at the time to support it because it probably would have been more popular than the one back in 74.

I am not a fan of George's solo work of the mid-seventies, to me it sounds like he is learning the lyrics whilst singing them, almost like he had no melody planned before singing the words.

Crackerbox Palace is a nice song tho. We think all the Beatles fall into this category - the quality of their albums diminshing fast, with each artist settling on a "sound". HOWEVER, each of George's albums has some great individual songs. On 33 1/3, we love all of side one: flows nicely. Side opens with It's What You Value, and it's simply too long. The rest of the side 2 songs are - here comes the B-word - boring. Except for Palace, of course. That has a groove N & F DO like.

Are you two always agreeing on everything? No, but very often we do. That ought not to be surprising, considering who we are!

I love this album , its my second favs of George , i remember buying this after my mam bribed me with it to go to the dentests , it was worth it . Dear One is just beautiful, just as good as anything from the other solo Beatle albums . I.M.O. My Avatar is my scanned L.P cover.
