aurthurlee got 2 Karmas because he described Sir Matt as great . I did see Matt Busby in the 1990s outside the ground before kick off In those days I was a season ticket holder and went every game You know when you are in presence of a great man . I did`nt go and talk to the man or even ask for an autograph . Nor did anyone else . A few years later he passed away . Regret not talking to the man . I don`t know really .
Yeh . Yoko . I must admit , I was never a fan of Yoko when it came to her singing (Or anything else for that matter)

Well then. I actually have her first three albums. They are very strange and sometimes her vocal mannerisms grate a bit but I find the music (and SOME vocals) very interesting.
Well,,,howsabout George Parasol

Welcome to the best thread around town b.m.p.74 Yep your right Kylie did rip Barbs off . Here is a songtress who makes suttle nods to classic Sci Fi and even ancient aliens . Kate Bush . Here are ancient cave drawings Wandjjina Snakes (or Aliens!) This picture was used as The Dreaming Have I mentioned I`ve met Kate Bush ?

If I'm being honest I'd have to say that when I was a kid Kate Bush used to frighten me and having just watched that some 30years later nothing has changed....I'll have nightmares tonight!!!
Interestingly the video reminded me a little of the 'Mighty Boosh' 'Killeroo' episode (I know Noel Fielding is a fan)

I`m sorry I scared you . I had the same thing when I was a lad with the Robot in Fireball XL5. Mighty Boosh . Never watched it . Talkin of childhood I loved everything by the Genius Gerry Anderson . And one of fav`s was U.F.O. Filmed in 1972 but set in the future 1980 . They got it spot on , rubbish clothes , crap furniture and crap hair styles . They got the U.F.O.`s trying to invade earth every week wrong though . Talkin of scary things from the past . Rover . Now this chap un nerved me a bit . I think that anything that hasn`t a mouth kinda freaked me out as a kid .( Cybermen etc.) This is from for me the greatest TV.show ever made ( just beats X Files by a whisker ) The Prisoner . Rover in action . Yep, it is a weather ballon going backwards .

FAR OUT! Going back to Jane: "Barbarella" is one of the worst scripts ever written. Even though Ms. Fonda is very tasty eye candy, It must qualify as one of the worst movies EVER made. And "The Dreaming" is one of my favorite songs and videos. You wanna know another bad movie? Citizen Kane. Hah! P.S.- Just a silly question, Do the British have the pound sign on their keyboard instead of the dollar sign that's on my keyboard?

£ . $ Got both . Barberella was not the best Sci Fi films ever admited . But as a youngster , I was a bit of a fan . Who could ever forget those scary metal teethed dolls ! Another rubbish film around that time was Clockwork Orange . I do like Kubrick And it`s hard not say that 2001 is the best Sci Fi film ever made . But Clockwork is absolute bobbins in my humble . Blur must have liked it . They made a Homage to it in this Video

I did like the book. Clockwork Orange. You know what else is a good book? Brighton Rock.

I guess the books will always better the film . Brighton Rock . I never liked the film very much . At the mo I`m reading The Fountainhead . Thanks to a certain Mr Peart I thought it was Sci Fi . No is it bleedin `ell. Its about some blokes who get paid to draw buildings ! Mr Peart (God like ) Read this book and said "Yeh ! write a Prog masterpiece about a bloke who finds a guitar in a cave , learn how to play it , go to some Priests in a temple , get fobbed off and go and top himself . Or maybe i`m not reading between the lines . I just wonder that sometimes it is better to have a real book in your hand so you can read the back in the shop before you go and buy the thing .

Ayn rand is a bit of a difficult read. I'm not sure she knew what a guitar was. Douglas Adams is much more interesting. I learned a lot about science from his 5 part Hitch-hiker's trilogy. I'm considering giving "Atlas Shrugged" a go. The idea of the guy who decides to stop the world turning,,,, But I found this MUCH more interesting: So there! Scientific proof that successive generations' brains are turning to pea soup

My conclusion of every pop song in the charts A whinging woman going on about being dumped and then some unaudible Rapper going on about how he is a .... Well it`s unaudible ,You can make out "Yo " Bitch " and Bottom now and again . Warning ! this is totally shit Living proof of my theory. Now depending on how far you got , they are all the same . So sorry if I have made you quesy after that video .

In "ask the experts", a boy group called 'One Direction' is allegedly challenging The Beatles popularity. Because 'non-experts' can't comment there, let talk about this over here.
Now I've never heard them but lets go back: 1966 - Herman's Hermits - for dopey 12 year olds who thought it was cool to say that the Beatles were 'old hat'. How many famous songs do you know of theirs? Wearing suits and having their hair down. That's original. 1976 - Bay City Rollers - S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night! That's the only tune I remember. And I don't recall tartan making an indelible mark on world culture. 1986 - New Kids On The Block - Again, 12 year olds. Couldn't hum ONE tune. 1996 - Back Street Boys - For the 12 year olds who thought it was cool to say that New Kids On The Block were 'old hat'. Include N'Sink in there too. 2006 - I don't know! I stopped paying attention.
Wasn't it 73 million people who watched The Beatles on Ed Sullivan? I guarantee that, even if more watched New Kids/Back Street/One direction, that very same hundred million or so will NOT be watching it next year. I still watch The Beatles. Anybody else do that too?
We should also take a look at what each of these groups contributed to popular culture. The musical history books (Rolling Stone. aren't they some kind of authority?) have endless pages of what the Beatles did first and what directions they pursued.
I can say though that these boy bands have raise this insipid mediocrity to a high art form. That is something.
When apes take over the planet, I always figured that the remaining humans would still be singing 'Hey Jude' but an aquaintance pointed out to me that it would more likely be "Baby One More Time". hah!

Well, you see Mr.M, we've gone off it now. Our interest level dropped, and ,well, there you go. It basically was a pretty short argument. However, an argument about Man U or say Phil Collins, that could go on for a while.

It was a total non-argument Ama. That's why no one bothered to seriously reply to it.
Anyway......
Man U - couldn't give a toss really.
Phil Collins - great drummer. Good singer (definitely influenced by Plastic Ono Band album re: screaming on Mama, In The Air Tonight, Take A Look At Me Now etc).
Wrongly blamed for Led Zeppelins crap performance at Live Aid.
Divorced his wife by fax.
I think that about covers it!
