Hi ladies and germans: This is my very own cool and completely multi-purpose thread that I started up just for you, my adoring fans. I'm having a thread warming party, so bring thoughts and comments with you. Talk about anything you want. You're allowed to wear your shoes in here and eat on the carpeted areas. All areas are open access. Just be decent and don't forget your trousers.
Oh, and don't use my flannel.
Meanwhile here's some nice Canadiana. It IS a party. These guys are rock stars in their own country, unknown in the 'Great Elsewhere'. Enjoy or die!
The Tragically Hip. These guys have one of those riveting front men that you can't look away from. Discuss.

I`m liking this thread Amadeus This is what we want on this forum a place to do what we want to do. Right then The Tragically Hip Sounded very late 80s R.E.M. to me but very catchy tune that . Here is some local music filmed by yours truly My mates band McCloud with special guest Popeye No thats not the real Gene Simmons . He`s not that good

We like Gene's glow in the dark fret board! Is Popeye his real name?
I was in a band for a short time where I was relegated to "Johnny B. Goode" limbo. That didn't last long 'cos they wanted to keep doing it and do it "proper" and I wanted to 'Hendrix' it up. Maybe set stuff on fire.
Isn't it just like rock stardom when the audience has to walk through the stage to go and pee? It reminds me of something that I've forgotten completely.
Anyway, where are all our favorite Beatles Forum members. There's room in here for all of them.
Maybe one day I''l get some of my home vids of the 'band' coverted to digital and share one or two songs with the planet. One of the ones where we almost sing in tune. It's such a neat and satisfying trick, to sing a song and hear the notes come out right.
Here's some more Canadiana. These guys are criminally underrated in their OWN country. In a country with quirky artists, these guys I guess were TOO quirky. But their fans are absolutely devoted. Even the government run arts institutions recognise how quintessentially Canadian these guys come across. They are sort of a unique national treasure.
However, if they got the 'big push or even the 'wizened little shove' internationally, they might have made a bit more money. This is one of their more 'straight' songs. incidentally, anyone who watched '70s American TV will enjoy the joke.

That was a great night . I was on the Classic Rock radio station on the drive to Wigan and I was going on about the gig and totally forgot to mention the name of the band (McCloud ) . Maybe I was a wee bit nervous . As for Popeye ? Well it`s not his birth name , but thats what he`s been called since he was a kid . All our Forum friends are a little shy when it dos`nt involve the Fab Four Amadeus But you never know . Rheostastics - The Tarlecks . Sounds very early 80s Talking Heads A pattern forming with my reviews , me thinks. Here is another local band from Manchester and one of the members was brought up in Hyde . A place I still call home I dare anybody not to love this song ! I Am Kloot.

I'm afraid I can't accept your dare. Some of us actually know about these guys over here. And everybody? Don't be afraid of the Amadeus Party Thread. We love the Beatles here. In fact, here's a nice picture of the Beatles to help you all feel at home: (notice Pete Best just out of view) I'm afraid that I'm going to have to replace my abacus soon because this one is giving me an awful lot of cryptic blue screen messages like Kernel_Stack_Error and I_hate_your_fish etc... Here's another Rheostatics' one. I don't think there's any 80's references in this one. But what do I know? Just WHAT do I know? We finally got our snow here in sunny tropical Canada. Spring's coming. Come on in. Open up a bag of chips (packet of crisps, for those in 3rd world countries) and let your hair hang down. All the way down. And lets make this a thread worth fighting for. Sincerely yours: Amadeus (Rock Me)

Well .. Question Amadeus. Re Rheostatics Are you their Agent/Father / Next door neighbour ? This time I didn`t find any 80s references ! But I was thinking that they maybe there were Zombies in the barn.(Must have seen Walking Dead to get that reference . by the way a brilliant T.V. Series ) And I didn`t see any snow which makes me think that it wasn`t filmed in Canada , a bit like X Files . Filmed in Canada but set in the U.S of A. Which if Scully was going in that barn it would have been after dark , on her own with a torch and only one bullet . As for the Beatle picture Is it just me or do they look completly out of there heads Which brings me to our next Video

Well .. Question Amadeus. Re Rheostatics Are you their Agent/Father / Next door neighbour ? What a silly question. These are musicians with a contract. Musicians with contracts live on a different plane than real people like you and me. You can't just talk to them and pretend they're normal or wish good or evil upon them. They are beyond that! And you didn't see any snow in the video? Well the crew had a full compliment of blow dryers and melted up that area for the film shoot. That's what we do here. Which reminds me, I have to put my summer snowshoes away for the winter. Here's a picture of me doing an addition onto the house. And the X-Files was a great show. It finally put to rest the question of 'who killed Kennedy?'. It was the smoking guy. The Beatles picture? Isn't it funny that Macca looks the most together and sprightly there? It's those 'herbal' ciggies that they have for breakfast, right after the tofu and seaweed. More Canadiana: This time, it's actually from the '80s

Now that video /Song brings to mind why I didn`t like 80s music very much . Now if this a battle of the bands Manchester V Canada ( Rush Joni, Neil not inc .) I think I would be a few mile in front . As this next band are the dogs . Stone Roses . A 80`s band !

Hmmm... A lot of the Manc bands were big (somewhat) over here too. So a barney between Man and Can might not be fair without Rush and Neil. However, this IS a party. Albeit a strange 2 person party. WHERE ARE THE OTHER GUESTS? (I wasn't shouting)

Ah Reveiw time again . Tea Party ? A Jim Morrison / Pearl Jam / Jimmy Page Violin bow kinda song . Not knock out by it . But a nice Eagle Owl though . Broken Social Scene . Now I did like that Kinda reminded me of a band I like a lot ( well 1 album ) Guillemots . Here is a great video of the band playing live and in the streets . It is a feel good tune that . Sorry they are not from Manchester .

Yes. I quite liked that.
Tea Party. Your conclusion is spot on. Pretentious as hell but pretty good fun for a summer and a half.
Broken Social Scene are one of those groups that has, like, 20 people in it, but revolving around a core group of 3 or 4 folks. Sort of a collective, rather than a proper 'band'.
Your choice is not manc? Gosh! Well, here's one from what I suspect was one of England's favorite sons.

Blimey ! You have heard of Frank ! He is a Manc legend I have seen Frank many times The first time was in the late 80s And sadly I saw him on his last tour with Charlie Chuck I had Frank in mind for Captain Bob actualy . I got to ask him a question by text sadly on a local station and as you may know he was a big Beatles fan and I asked him what was it like being in the Beatles ? Check this out for the answer Here is Charlie Chuck ! (not from Tipperley ) Eh ?

Well obviously (I think) he's unknown over here, but I discovered him in '88 in Offbeat Magazine. I can't find any evidence on line at all that this magazine ever existed. Do you remember it? anyway, I read the review for his album: Frank's ultimate experience...the surreal album that takes his quite unnerving recording techniques to new heights and introduces tales of the tomb Maurice Karmen - the brother of Tuten, guest spots by Patrick Moore and Little Frank, the first puppet on the moon, various radio jingles, and a pro-Altrincham FC footie tune. The media world falls to it's knees as Sidie enters Peter Cook proportions of Lunacy, even claiming at the end of side two that this set is a double album! Perhaps it is, perhaps the other record is...invisible. Maybe it got nicked. As it is, I'll just have to make do with what I've got, including the superb new quiz show The Squid is Correct which leaves Tarby's Frame Game standing.****Dave Henderson It just isn't something that would go good over here, though I can't think why. " Hey Paul McCartney" is a great tune! And I don't know why they didn't mention in Anthology that Frank and Ringo invented the Merseybeat at Pete Best Airport. For some reason, Charlie Chuck reminded me of Wild Man Fischer. One of Zappa's discoveries from the street. An actual paranoid schizo.
