Yes, it's the American version of Sherlock. It's not as good as Sherlock, no where near. In all honesty no one can beat Basil Rathbone in my view. I usually detest all Sherlock Holmes adaptations but I thought Sherlock was brilliant and I surprised myself in liking Elementary.

Did anyone watch Rubicon? Now there is one series where it was a travesty there was no second series.

I'm quite fond of Jeremy Brett. He was too hammy for me.

What a double act he & the delightful Nigel Bruce was.Yes he was a bumbling Watson but that just added to the charm of the piece. Even now I Still watch the box set. Cumberbatch was a master stroke in the art of casting. Sherlock is a joy to behold. Not seen Elementary yet but do fancy it. Jeremy Brett was a great authentic Holmes & one of best depictions of the character . A shout out for Peter Cushing also who was excellent in the Hound of the Baskervilles. Downey jnr was a breath of fresh air in the remake. But suffered in a poor second film Game of Shadows. It will always be Basil for me

Has ''The Following'' been shown over there yet? (U.K.) Brilliant premise for a series.

It will always be Basil for me Michael Cain was a really bad Sherlock Holmes (Lewis Collins was Watson in it). Surprisingly Christopher Lee's Holmes (which has been on a few times recently) was also pretty bad.

The Michael Caine version is called "Without a clue" of which Caine plays a drunken actor in the Sherlock Holmes guise. Ben Kingsley plays Dr Watson & is the really the ace detective out of the two.Watson lets the actor take the credit. Great idea for the genre. Mrmustard is getting mixed up with the TV movie Jack the ripper of which Caine played Inspector Abberline & Lewis Collins played his sidekick. High enjoyable movie by the way
