Hear New “Atlas Eets Christmas” Track – Plastic Ono Band and The Flaming Lips December 5, 2011 The Flaming Lips have created a new website to stream their Christmas music, atlaseetschristmas.com. Today they added a new recording to that infinite stream, this re-recording of "Atlas Eets Christmas" with the Plastic Ono Band. The original was released in 2007 on the Lips' secret Christmas album.The Flaming Lips and Plastic Ono Band will play SIDE-BY-SIDE sets at the New Year Freak Out #5. On New Year's Eve at midnight they will play "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" together. I updated The Future Heart New Year Guide today: psychexfutureheart.wordpress.com/2011/12/25/new-year/Among the updates was this album art from the Flaming Lips final monthly EP of 2011 (bottom) and the above video of the Lips preparing for their John Lennon tribute sets they are playing this weekend with Sean Lennon and members of the Plastic Ono Band. The EP will be released at the shows as well. It is collab with the Plastic Ono Band, including Sean Lennon. The EPfs B-side is gAtlas Eets Christmash (played at 45rpm). Note the reference to "All You Need Is Love" in the lyrics and Wayne Coyne's handwriten lyric sheet/ doodle: The A-side has three tracks: gThe Fear Litany,h hDo Ith and gBrain of Heaven.h Watch the Lips and Plastic Onos record the first and the last of those three in the above video and hDo Ith below: Each of the 2000 psychedelic, multi-color, glow-in-the-dark 12 vinyl records is a one-of-kind piece of art. As mentioned above, The Flaming Lips and Plastic Ono Band released their collaborative 12" EP at New Year's Freak Out #5, the final of the Lips (almost) monthly 2011 releases. The B-side plays one track at 45 rpm, "Atlas Eets Christmas" - which you may remeber from last month, streamed on the Lips' Christmas music website atlaseetschristmas.com - it's already embedded in the previous post (above). Each of the 2000 limited edition records are one-of-a-kind multi-color designs by Daniel Huffman (aka psych-electronic musician New Fumes - . 600 of them glow in the dark. The 3 new songs from the EP's A-side are embedded below.
