Hia,
I'm Nick, nice to meet you all and this is my very post of what may be many. I'm 39, a life long fan and have been going to the Liverpool Convention every year since I was 14. I'd love it if there was anyone around here that I have met in the past 25 years.
Take care.

Hi Nick and a very warm welcome to the forum.
My first Beatle convention was in 1982 when I was 12 years old and my last one was this year. Don't you think it's changed so much since the 80's? There is a very good chance we might have bumped into each other at some point. Look forward to chatting to you about it!

Hia,
yes - it has changed. I remember when it was at the Adelphi on the Monday as well as the Sunday. This was of course before the invention of the Matthew Street Festival.
I also remember listening to some great local bands - can you remember the Coustics, Dark Horse and Mojo Filter? I wonder whatever happened to those guys?
Maybe I'm getting old but would you agree that it's getting too busy in recent years?
Take care.

I remember one year, at least, it was Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the Adelphi for the convention.
I remember Mojo Filter very well. Phil Melia plays with The Shakers now. Rick Allen is a director at Cavern City Tours and still plays on and off. Paul Cooper formed Sliced Bread and then went on to play Paul in the Bootleg Beatles. No idea what happened to the drummer Andy Hudson. My overriding memory of them was when they played the complete medley on Abbey Road, starting with You Never Give Me Your Money, with just two guitars, bass and drums. It was truely amazing considering they played Hamburg type Beatles stuff! They are supposed to be reforming for a one-off gig above Flannagans Apple (the original site of The Cavern Mecca) on 5th November for a Cavern Mecca reunion.
Compared to the early years it's a lot more busy in the night time that it use to be, although there have been a few years of late where the main ballroom has not been that full at all. There's a lot more going on outside the Adelphi compared to the early days of the convention.
Bring back the albums convention, that's what I say!

I also loved the various incarnations of Ringer and the splinters of that. Such good musicians who didn't always stick to the original arrangements but if anything made the live performances more enjoyable for it. I used to love the all nighters at the Adelphi as there was usually a few different bars to choose from. We would (in our younger days) often stay up until breakfast was served at 7am You will have to direct me to a picture of you so I can see if I recognise what you look like. I'm sure our paths may have crossed at some stage......
