Some have referred Brian Epstein as the 5th Beatle.

Which non-Beatle played on the most Beatle recordings? And arranged the orchestral parts? And produced the recordings? That would be George Martin.

There's a whole bunch we could classify as the 5th Beatle. Some that come to mind are: Stu Sutcliffe, Pete Best, Andy White, Jimmy Nichol, Klaus Voorman, Billy Preston and Mal Evans. We should make a list and vote.

Good choice liddypool. I still think I'll have to go with Brian. Without him Martin would have never known there were The Beatles. lol

The story of how women shaped the Beatles got more interesting, as Paul McCartney recently told the world “Yoko Ono” did not break up the Beatles. McCartney said “The Beatles” broke the band up and if John didn’t leave, he couldn’t create such poetry like “Imagine.” John Lennon married Yoko Ono in 1969, after getting a divorce from his first wife Cynthia Powell. As Cynthia would say, she came home from a trip to Greece in 1968 to find Yoko Ono in her home. Cynthia accused John of abandoning his first child “Julian.” In a 2005 interview, Cynthia told an interviewer that Paul McCartney saved her when he wrote “Hey Jude” for Julian. “If I would never see (McCartney) again, I won’t forget it.”
Yoko Ono was a Japanese artist who met John Lennon at a London art gallery in 1966. She was a reputable avant-garde artist. When the two met, she had never heard of the Beatles, but sparks flew fast and furious. The two married months after his divorce was official in 1969. No one can deny that Yoko had a tremendous impact on John and his musical career, but some Beatles’ fans loathe her. Lennon admitted to beating women prior to meeting Yoko and that Yoko changed him. They had a son together in 1968, and were married for 11 years before Lennon was gunned down outside their New York City apartment in 1980. Still, it is one of the greatest love stories, as John said, “There is no reason why I would want to live without Yoko.”

yes thats what i think she influenced john so much the beatles wrote "The ballard of john and yoko". and john said in song, "i belive in me.. yoko and me thats reality" The Beatles didn't write it! Lennon did, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was just John & Paul who were at the recording session for this one. Also obviously Yoko only appeared during the white album, so far from being the 5th Beatle. What's a ballard?

I've just read a book about the War on Terror, which revealed that when terrorists were being interrogated at the notorious "black sites", they were subjected to constant amplified noise, designed to induce stress. Favoured sounds included rabbits being slaughtered, babies crying.......... and Yoko Ono singing!

I`m surprised that I hav`nt posted any wit or sarcasm on this thread !
But I`m not really going to have a debate on such a very silly statement
The only person who is worthy to put forward to be a 5th Beatle is George Martin .
And if you know what he brought to The Beatles in the recording studio I`m sure you will agree

George Martin was, possibly, the most under-rewarded member of the Beatles' inner circle. The way EMI treated him was Dickensian.

Like any artist you have to go back and look at who actually got the snowball rolling in their careers. For the Beatles I think it would be Brian he took them to meet George, and then George molded them into being a great group in the studio.
Like Elvis, if it wasn't for Sam Phillips going out of his way and finding Elvis after he heard that demo record. There may have never been an Elvis.

I read Yoko was also on Beatle songs 'Happy Birthday' with Patti Harrison in the background, and Revolution #9.
