This message is primarily for forum members located in the UK. Did any of you watch the recent ‘Arena’ documentary on BBC Television called ‘Produced By George Martin’? See www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b010t9hz#clips for details and clips. A fascinating insight into a wonderfully gentle and gifted man. I learned a lot about Sir George from watching this, for example his wartime service, but of course it his excellence and professionalism as a record producer that we all value so highly. How lucky we were that his and The Beatles paths crossed in 1962…..

I saw this and it was an excellent documentary. Can I suggest, if you haven't already, you read George martins autobiography 'All You Need Is Ears'. This is also a great insight into the great man.

Not having a telly, I missed out on this, but heads up for the tip off. Hopefully, they'll repeat it and I can have a crafty look on iplayer. The All You Need Is Ears, GM autobiography is good, but it does include one gaff, in that it cites the band that visited during the making of Sgt. Pepper's as being Deep Purple, when we all know it was Pink Floyd. You're forgiven though George. Meanwhile, thanks to YT, here's some highlights of what this thread's about. It does look excellent!
