I have been into the Beatles for ages, first discovered them in my first year at secondary school, due to my music class doing a keyboard version of yellow submarine, admittedly i wasnt much of a fan at that point, being young and impressionable i was a huge fan of " gangster rap " believe me i regret that phase. Mid way through secondary when we played football where it would be on the playstation or on the local football pitch we would for example say the celtic fans v rangers fans but we soon changed that to english team names to save arguments and fights and to mix the teams up a bit, in doing this for a reason i cant explain i developed a massive soft spot for liverpool football club and soon enough the scouse wit and accent banter history the lot and eventually The Beatles.
Now you may be wondering the whole point of this thread, the first section was to explain how i became a fan it was something that just happened, i never had a choice. It just took over.

Anyway soon enough i binned my rap cds replaced them all with Beatles albums, grew my hair to the mop top style, bought suits chelsea boots tried to replicate the Beatle image as much as possible and i still do, so my love for the Beatles and Liverpool is there to be seen. If it wasnt for The Beatles, i would never have became a fan of The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who, Small Faces etc etc. So now about 5 years later my friends have a obsession with bashing The Beatles and comparing them with The Rolling Stones whom my friends only know three songs no guesses there and i find that in what my friends say and what people say on the net, that its cool to bash The Beatles.
So my main gripe with peoples opinions on The Beatles is 1: Comparing them to The Rolling Stones 2: Calling them a pop band 3: Refering to them as a boy band 4: Saying they are overated etc etc
I know people are entitled to their own opinion

But do you ever find that people that dont like The Beatles go out their way to really hate them without ever even listening to them?
sorry for the rant, i know its a bit long and all but ive had this on my chest for years.
This thread isnt intended to cause arguments or anything just wondering if anyone else has this?

What drives me crazy is that whole 'Who was better, the Beatles or Elvis' thing. Talk about apples vs. oranges.....

This is nothing new. I had the same thing 48 years ago, fell out with friends, the oldies mocked my Beatle haircut and said Cliff Richard was better than The Beatles. Just have to ignore it. I knew what I liked!

Imagine how I`ve got on . Coming from Manchester , supporting Man Utd and being a long life beatle fan . I still get stick everyday and as I always say to the people who call The Beatles and don`t like them . Well , it`s there loss.
