The dates for Liverpool's International Beatle Week have have just been announced - Weds 20 August to Tues 26 Auugust. This year promises to be a VERY special occasion, as Liverpool celebrates being named the European Capital of Culture 2008. Plus it is the organisers', Cavern City Tours, 25 anniverasry and it has been confirmed that the Mathew Street festival is back on! I have heard that The Overtures will be playing two sets at the Cavern on Tuesday afternoon and evening, abd rumour has it that CCT are trying to organise an outdoor stage gig for them too. It will be great to see all the old faces again and I hope to meet up with as many Beatle Forum members as possible!

All welcome in The European Capital of Culture 2008.
TE ... when can you book this?
BTW... I was chatting to Kath (Ladybugs) in the Cavern Pub last night, they are not called that any more... Beatelles or something. She mentioned that The Adelphi may not be the 'hub' anymore, in favour of The Hard Days Night Hotel, you got any more info?

Beatelles or something. She mentioned that The Adelphi may not be the 'hub' anymore, in favour of The Hard Days Night Hotel, you got any more info? They are taking bookings right now! Beatelles is a really good name for an all-female Beatle tribute band - good luck to them! As long as it's not the Beatits!!! Will they be playing this year? It would be great to get away from the Adelphi being the "hub" however I'm not sure even the AHDN Hotel would be able to host that many gigs on the premises - The Adelphi often has 5 live gigs going on simulataneously not including the main stage hall at the back! When I mentioned the problem I had with The Adelphi last year to Bill Heckle (head honcho of CCT), he didn't say anthing in his reply about moving any of the events to the AHDN Hotel in 2008. I now have the brochure of events for this year - I'll post full details later

I figured The Adelphi would still be the 'hub'. I guess I need to reserve this asap. Although I'm a local I'm still learning how this thing works. I guess the best bet for me is a single room in The Adelphi, keep things nice and central for me. Have to be aware of cost, so I may go for Mulberry Court. Single rooms in the Adelphi sell out dead quick I understand? - More info please I'd like to book this asap. I've joined The Beatle Week mailing list.

Yeah, if you want a single room at the Adelphi you need to book it asap as they only ever have a few and they are the first rooms to sell out. I'll post the booking form for you when I get home tonight.

I've not booked yet, but I hope to soon - have to afford (and survive) the 23rd International Queen Convention in Somerset next month first.
I'm looking at the Gold Anthology at The Grand Central Unite (I remember when the bus station was there, but then I'm old!) with adding x3 extra nights - Wednesday, Thursday and Tuesday.
A lot of cash for just popping down the road, but I want to be on site 24/7 for the full week, so worth it.

Those are the nights we'll probably book too. And you're right, it IS a lot of money - well worth though ain't it!

So, who from here is going? Me (puts hand up in the air and gesticulates wildly) . Been with my brother to the last four Beatleweeks but financial and social restrictions mean that we arrive on the Saturday morning and leave on the Tuesday - staying the three nights at Holiday Inn Hotel. One of these years we're gonna stay the whole week from Monday right through until the following Tuesday. Better start saving now then. Anyone else?

Blimey, how much traffic chaos would that cause!!? If it gets a green light (metaphorically speaking!) I think it would be great but only in addition to the other usual outdoor stages.
