Get Back is a great song but the best thing about it is the performance. Everyone is contributing something of real value. Ringos drumming just sets it apart from any ordinary rock 'n' roll song. I hate the way drummers in bands who cover this song just play a straight four four and omit the shuffle on the snare which is fundamental to the song. McCartney keeps it simple but perfect and locks in with Ringo so tightly. Great vocal too. John plays a great guitar part but the real star of the star of the song for me is George. His big open chords on his Telecaster in the chorus just give the song a huge dynamic and take it too another level. It's a perfect example of how George, as a guitarist, worked from within a song rather than making his guitar the prominent feature of the song that so many lead guitarists would do. Immense! Yeah great assessment mrmustard !! And also don't forget what Billy Preston brings to the song as well The amazing thing is that how great this performance is compared to some of the other horrible out of tune jams (e.g. you really got a hold on me ,across the universe) and yet they rose their game when you would not have betted on it at the time How could I forget Billy! He was probably the reason why they did raise their game on this song. It has to be said that The Beatles where not very good jammers/improvisors. Blues was definitely not their forte although, ironically, Yer Blues is one of my favourite songs. The guitar solos were pretty poor on this though. The two occasions Clapton played it (live), he absolutely stormed it!

12 Bar Original is another example of just how poor they were at blues jams - it's barely listenable in my opinion and the keyboards are particularly poor!

I can just imagine George Martins expression (facepalm??) when they were playing tunes like this and 'Suzy Parker', Yakety Yak and others LOL !! But the worst ever for me is the awful attempt at Accross The Universe at the Let it Be sessions. It sounds like two cats been dragged through a hedge backwards while scraping it nails against a blackboard LOL ...

'The Inner Light'. It might be a Beatles song but whenever I used to put it on the jukebox, no one in the pub had a Scooby Doo what it was or who it was by.

"Inner Light" can indeed be a mind blower, but only for us obviously "tuned in" sorts while "Prudence" is just plain beautiful. And yes,John Harrison,it is indeed greatly daunting task to narrow down the Fabs gloriously sprawling catalog down to just one tune. After all,we're not just discussing Tears For Fears or Duran Duran here.Yet somehow,I must admit I'm always very much drawn to John Lennon's wonderfully visionary "Strawberry Fields". It succeeds not only as pop music wonder, but also as provocative poetic prose.I also prefer 1965's "Help!",with its charming insights on mankind's intrinsic need for one another.

If a green being came down from the Planet Zog (or Manchester), I've always thought that the perfect example of a Beatles song to play him (or her, or it!) would be 'Penny Lane'.
Three minutes long, chirpy and bright like 'Please Please Me' or 'I Feel Fine', and yet with a lyric that hints at something different to boy meet girl stuff. Great promo film as well.
I think it was the book 'Revolution In The Head' that suggested it was actually far more strange than 'Strawberry Fields Forever' because, unlike that song, it starts from such a normal place.

My favourite song has got to be "The End". Absolutely brilliant.

Choosing your favorite Beatle song is the equivalent of choosing your favorite child...but then again I don't have any kids and I know I'm me Mothers favourite, so the answer is 'Hey Bulldog'

My favourite Beatles songs do chop and change but my favourite song of all-time has for as long as I can remember been In My Life. Funny, I was gonna say the same. When people ask what my fave is, I usually say there are 2 many to possibly have one, but actually heard this yesterday, and remembered how much I loved about this song. Love the background singing, Johns singing, heck even George Martins Piano solo. Even the drumming is fitting if that is possible. Then again, next week it might be Yesterday, Rain or I Me Mine (great intro).......

Hey Riingo, good to have you around! Out of interest, why did you cross the word 'piano' out?

Friend: My favorite Beatles song is Band On The Run. Me: It's not a Beatles song. Friend: Wot! That guy, that guy, Paul McCartney sings it right? Me: Yes. Friend: Alright! That one is my favorite Beatle song.
Actual conversation in the '80's.
