Anyone read this? Ok, so there is a lot of already published articles and interviews in one book which is good. However where does this guy get off with some of his opinions? For instance grouping various songs from The White Album under the following headings; Ephemera, Doodles, Sketches and Rubbish; Failed Experiments; Material that is quite enjoyable but which in your heart of hearts you know isn't quite good enough to merit space on a Beatles album in normal circumstances; Good to classic. There is so much more ridiculous opinion that is devoid of basis or substance. Who gives this guy the permission to publish this nonsense. We are all entitled to our opinion but I would say that there a many people other than Sean Egan better informed on The Beatles who could write a more informed work. Like most members on this forum for example!

A selective bio from Wikepedia:
"Sam Egan is a journalist, and a writer/producer for television. His credits include writing and producing for such shows as: Quincy, M.E., The Incredible Hulk, The Fall Guy, Northern Exposure, The Outer Limits, Sanctuary and Jeremiah. Egan is renowned for his extensive art deco lamp and light fixture collection."
Over qualified, I'd say!!!! <--------sarcasm!

That quote says it all really. I bet he only possesses the 1 album and the 67 - 70 album which he nicked off his brother!

The Anthology book has been out for years. I've had a copy since it was published in the uk. I suspect most forum members own a copy of this.

LOL! The thing is it's so big that it's ideally placed at the bottom of the pile.

I know. I only read the first chapter I think. It's like one of those books you like to show off to people when they come round to your house because it's that big. And that's the reason people don't finish the anthology because it's too big to read in bed or on the toilet where most of mine, and I am sure most peoples, reading takes place!

The Anthology is really good. Would you guys suggest "Recording the Beatles" to me?

Unless you're really into the recording process then no - buy The Beatles Chronicle by Mark Lewisohn instead.

Ya I am more interested in history than recording process. I might check Recording the Beatles out from the library and buy The Beatles Chronicle.

Recording the beatles is also very expensive. It's getting on for a couple of hundred dollars, or it was when I bought it so you have to be really sure you want it!

Is it still available? The website says out of stock. I'd be interested in getting one!
